Mac Version / SRC Access

Hey

I was wondering if anyone has considered a mac version.... well I sure people have, scanning the search shows that people have. Anyways, I am an actual Mac Developer and was wondering if there is any chance on perhaps looking at doing a port myself (I am not a big fan of darwine). I am willing to do the bulk of the work (assuming of course I don't need to re-write the game from scratch). I am willing however to port or make parts platform independent. Any chance I can take a peek at the source or chat with one of the developers to discover how feasible this might be? I have extensive experience in both Windows and Mac development.

Thanks

I'll give my standard answer to this kind of question...if you want to port the game, you shouldn't port the game itself...you should port the engine. We haven't developed the engine ourselves, Chris Jones at http://www.bigbluecup.com has done that. You'd have to inquire there about porting. I'm not seeing CJ giving the source out though...

The last port to Mac of AGS was a beta of 2.71, and Quest for Glory was made on 2.72. If you manage to add the 2.72 changes to the Mac interpreter (which is in need of a maintainer), you will be able to run not only Quest for Glory, but many other AGS games.

Edit:
The AGS thread about the Mac Interpreter: http://www.bigbluecup.com/yabb/index.php?topic=30021.0

The link to actually download the interpreter in that thread is broken, but you can download it from here. Note that it is an interpreter, not an editor. You won't be able to do games with it, only run them. It will be easier to code, or at least I expect so.
