on the other translation board I said I could translate ito French seeing as how I speak it very well. However I've decided that if I translate it and see the script it just wouldn't be fun to play. As QFG 2 and 4 are the only ones i didn't really play I would like to play them without knowing it all. Although if I beat it and you're still looking for a french translation I can do that ;) who knows I may even find an easter egg or to I missed

I don't think you could handle a translation, as you don't seem to be capable of capitalization and punctuation. These concepts seem to be required, even in other languages. Being that you're against them kind of renders you useless in a translating capacity, doesn't it?

Lack of regard for punctuation. Sleeping through French class... heh... you sound like you'd make a great translator! ;)

Besides, I believe Erpy has already said there was a French translator.

Just for the record, we're talking about KQ1VGA, not QFG2VGA. Besides, I doubt you'd be able to "get anyone to do it", because it's such a large amount of work. KQ1VGA's translation template is about 70 pages big and would take the average translator about 3 months to finish. (most of them simply don't finish) If QFG2VGA would support translations (which I doubt it will), it'd end up with a template of about 320 pages, which would take the average translator over a year. I don't think your friends would be very willing to give up so much of their free time, just because you want them to.

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this: But I was (and still am :) ) a big fan of the old Sierra adventure games (especially King's Quest and Quest for Glory series) and I'd like to translate Tierra's King's Quest I remake to European Portuguese. No new characters are going to be needed, since it seems that there is a Spanish translation already.

I haven't found any HOWTO anywhere about translating. I suppose I need some plain text files or something...
So, what exectaly do I need?

By the way, my English might have some quirks, but my Portuguese is quite good - I write articles for a magazine and I've been a KDE translator for a year.
Even if you're closed for translations, I'd still like to make it and, if possible, to redistribute them to Portuguese folks.

Translation into Russian

#135 Post by Elven_Ranger » Sat Oct 02, 2004 3:23 pm

Hello.

I wanna translate QFG, but I don`t know how. The most bad thing is that I need no complete text, I need how to extract this text from game and to add it back translated already. Can anybody help me?
