I've been referred to as a geek before, but this would be the first time I've been called a nerd. I've heard there is a considerable difference between the two--geeks spend time on computers and persuing hobbies that are somewhat contrary to what would be considered normal by the masses. Nerds wear pocket protectors, are socially impared, and concentrate heavily on school related topics. Oh yes, I've met many a person who have mercilessly dissected this term and come up with a rather exact set of criteria that one must abide by to be considered a nerd or a geek. I've stopped arguing with them and just accept it--we're geeks. Definitely not nerds.

By the way, you're welcome!

And, eh, finally, I think I must go and pay hommage to our God, CJ.

Anonymous Game Developer #1

Well, if you want my opinion, nerd and geek are interchangible terms. Actually, I would go do far as to say that nerdism is a sub-group of geekism. That is to say, all nerds are geeks, but not all geeks are nerds. Nerds obviously hold the properties of geeks, but a geek comes in many ways, shapes, and/or forms. I, for one, am a computer game/comic book geek. Most here are computer geeks. However, to be a computer nerd, one must transcend geekiness to involve having no life outside of the computer. So, if you look at it, the AGDs' commitments to their work have in truth made them, well, computer nerds. I believe the argument ends there. Actually, if you are agnostic, that means that you refuse to believe in the existance of and do not disbelieve in the existance of a god or gods without further proof of one or the other. An agnostic doesn't say, "There is no god/gods/heaven/yadda.", that would be an atheist. An agnostic would say, "I don't have sufficient proof that god exists, nor do I have sufficient proof that god does not exist, so until I have more (convincing) information I will not commit myself to believing either." If you fully believe that god exists, you are not agnostic. Secular and/or unorthodox perhaps, but not agnostic.

~Wolfgang
