The main page has not been updated for over a month now. Hope AGD1 and AGD2 is not lost in the fascinating labyrinth of narrow streets and alleyways of Shapeir...err I mean Stone Town.

How did East fricanA end up having a town similar to Shapeir btw? :p

Edit: The intention of this post is not really to ask for an update on the main page of coz. Don't get me wrong. :lol

There is only 3 and 1/2 months left of this year now. When did they start making that game exactly? :\

My assumption is that the game is very close to completion. Probably handed out to beta testers now while they take a break. And by the time they're done with their vacation, they'd probably do some final bugfixes from the feedback of the beta testers.

You could be right Mcgyer but I predict an early 2005 release for Quest For Glory 2 VGA.

Then again I could be wrong! :D

BREAKING NEWS: Quest for Glory 2 VGA will be released sometime in 2005.........

:rollin
Seems very 1984ish to me.

"The chocolate ration has been reduced 10 milligrams to 35 milligrams.

-The next day-

"Bless our glorious leaders for raising the chocolate ration to 35 milligrams.

If AGDI made the announcement that the release data has always been early 2005, then you could draw 1984 parallels :p.

But the release date has always been early 2005.
*Goes back to editing official documents...*

Seriously though, Relight has been a bit busy lately. There has been quite a bit of talk about what the next update will be. There is a lot of info for him to sort through and summarize. I'm sure he'll get it done soon.

::mutters to self::

All it is a friggin conspiracy. One day they hate the Hero6 group, the next day, them and Hero6 unite against Infamous Adventures... The truth shall be known.

::sees Adeyke and Wolfgang coming towards him::

NO! NOT ROOM 101 NO!

P.s.

Seriously though, any thoughts on a possible later project? Like after QFG2VGA, or will AGDI take a few month siesta from game making?

But Mariachi, AGDI and Hero6 have always been allies, fighting the glorious fight against the Infamous Adventurers. We should trust them both always, they are the only ones that can protect us from IA's evil. :)

And 2+2=5 and Navy can float in the air, because the party says so... :) :D

I'm sick of all the Orwellian conspiracy theories! We're not bad; we're just drawn that way.

All asides, aside - again, I quiver with anticipation for Quest For Glory 2 VGA, being a game developer myself, I would love to see how AGDI has matured in their skills since KQII VGA, and play the game. I wicked psyched, and I know an update will come soon.

I'm also excited for Hero6, I can't wait to see what that game plays like!

So much fun in the future.

And we're not evil!

Maybe, just a little?

Why do I get the impression we'll be seeing an QFI version of QfG2VGA and Hero6!?! :p

They would've asked for Beta testers on these boards if...

that were the case. Atleast, that's whats they've done in the past, so until you see signs for Beta Testers, then I think it's a good 2/3 months away from that point.

I hope they update it soon, I love the stuff they upload! :D

Are you sure they'll make a public anouncement when they go beta?? Perhaps they've already had their beta-testers ready!!

hmmm... weren't they this quiet when they beta-tested the last two?
Hey! We might see a release in the next few weeks!

There'll probably be a news update once we've confirmed our webmaster is still among the living. :)

EDIT: Looks like it arrived. And it got pictures.

Yeah! Very nice sketches!

When will AGD1 be saying hello again? Been awhile!

Uhuh. We had to can the idea of creating handdrawn prototypes of all backgrounds, as it would have cost loads of time and the pencils and paper for those things are also rather costly. But they DO make some interesting material for designer journals. :)

But these sketches were used in the game right? :)

Yeah, those drawings were used as a base for the remakes screens, but they've been edited many times over since these drawings were first sketched. The original plan was to hand paint all the backgrounds, but that would have taken too long as Erpy said.

For the rest of the QFG2VGA screens, we went back to the tried and tested technique of using the EGA versions as a base and then pixel-editing over the top of them. Looking at the end results, we couldn't really tell much difference between a hand-painted version and the pixel-edited ones unless the resolution was 640x400 or above (and the latter method takes significantly less time). Hand-painted screens are usually pixel-edited for hours anyway, so by handpainting them first, we were really only adding an extra, unnecessary step in the assembly line.

Good stuff to have for archival purposes though! :)

By the way, Macguyver... we had a guy in our group who we dubbed "McGuyver" (you know, after Richard Dean Anderson) for the very reason that he was always able to navigate the alleyways in Zanzibar and get us back to the hotel where we were staying! You're not that McGuyver though, I imagine, since that Mcguyver wouldn't be asking such a self-evident question! :D

Anyway, Zanzibar really was like Shapeir in the aspect that it's possible to get completely lost in the alleyways and lose all sense of direction when wandering around. We saw some sites that looked like locations directly from scenes in QFG2... it was pretty damn cool! We took a lot of photos of the narrow alleyways in Zanzibar and are using them as reference shots right now to brighten up Shapeir a bit.

As for how East Africa ended up with a town like Shapeir, well, Zanzibar has existed for thousands of years. In the 15th century, it used to be a major slave trading hub to the Middle East for the Omani empire. Arabs used to rule and inhabit the island, and that's why all of the Arabian architecture and islamic culture still remains there.

I was wondering if the portrait pictures in your games are also sketched by hand first and then finished digitally or if you use some other method. (Where there portrait pictures in the original QFG?)
