Your Favorite game in the kings Quest Series and Why...

#1 Post by Lil' Jon » Tue May 30, 2006 7:44 am

I would just like to know what everyone's favorite KQ game is and Why?  My personal Favorite is KQ V (although this is a very difficult decision)
I just really liked the storyline, graphics, characters, difficulty level everything about this game as a whole makes it my favorite though I could easily say this for a number of others (I really liked KQVI also.) -

KQVI of course. The story is top notch: dramatic, involving, even epic. The characters are well fleshed-out, the villain is not over-the-top and believable. The musical score is one of Sierra's all time best. And best of all: barely any dead ends or unexpected deaths, and logical puzzles, not to mention the multiple endings and paths to take.

I'll tell you ONE thing.

For me, it's not KING'S QUEST III currently!

KQ5. Because it just....is! I guess it's nostalgia more than anything, but it felt more adventurous than the others. You truly "left home" to travel in distant lands and you cover a lot of very diverse territory. I suppose KQ7 is like that, too, but I haven't played through it yet and it doesn't have the same feel that I like about KQ5.

Oh and the soundtrack is awesome. That's about 60% of the reason, actually lol.

KQ6 is second.

I can't really choose between 5, 6 & 7 really, and that's when I'm not even considering 2+.  :p

Right. KQ2+ is somewhere in the top 3.

It's a tough call between 5 and 6 so I'll break it down:
  • I liked the look of 5 better than 6
The music is probably a tie
6 had multiple paths and endings
Graham is less of a wuss than Alexander
    5 had a better villain
Hmm.  It's still pretty close.
  • 6 didn't have Cedric
Oh yeah.  6 is the clear winner by a longshot.

KQ VI is my favourite, but to be honest I'm not a big fan of any of the KQ games. They always seemed poorly written, overly simplistic and, well, twee to me.

Give me a Quest for Glory game (particularly QfG2 or 3) any day.

For me it's got to be the KQ1 remake... or the KQ2 remake... or the upcoming KQ3 remake... ya know, I can't decide.

Kings Quest 6 hands down. Gripping storyline and fun to play over again once you have completed it.

V but VI was good. I never really liked any of the other ones.

Sometimes I think it's the black sheep, but I really love "The Perils Of Rosella".  I dunno, I just dig it.

It's somewhat of an acquired taste. It is the most different of the series. I like it. Not the best but I like it.

Favorite, KQ5, but the KQ game I reply he most is KQ4.  It was one of the first King's Quest game I played.  A friend was currently playing KQ6, and he loaned me KQ4 & KQ5 for a few weeks.. I got soo hooked, I bought KQ5 on CDROM.  I wasn't able to buy the other KQs until the collection was released, but I do own the KQ Collection, the first CDs released by Sierra.

Too bad I've lost all my books going with the series tho.

Oh I really liked that one as well. Especially the part where you come out and all of the sudden it's night.
(Minor spoiler warning)
And the girlfight kind of thing between Genesha, Lolotte, Rosella and Edgar, liked that one as well. Which is repeated in KQVII or something, only then with Valanice, Malacia, Rosella and Edgar. What's wrong with Edgar?

I like kq6 becuase of the good storyline that Roberta had written for the game and the Music is just great. Espcially the Girl in The Tower theme that playes at the end of kq6 if you have the stalone cd and I think the 15th anniversary collection that has games 1-6. and KQ collection II if you imbeded the song as a sperate track using Nero or any other cd burning program.
