Quest for Glory 2 save problems

You guys have probably gotten this question before, but I figure if anyone can give me an answer you can. I have Quest for Glory 2 installed on my Windows XP system and everything works perfectly except for the save and restore functions. Whenever I try to save or restore the game shuts down and I get an error message about an illegal operation. I have downloaded patches that say they will fix QFG2 save/restore problems but they have persisted. Any advice you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks!

There is a program called DosBox (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net) which will emulate a dos enviroment so older games will run properly. My copy of QFG2 works 100% with it. It's pretty likely that running QFG2 with DosBox will fix the error.
