I'm more in favour of MI3. I'm not really fond of MI4's 2.5D stuff.
Oh well. Guess I'm alone on that. :)

It's the originals that matter. The Secret Of Monkey Island and LeChuck's Revenge are definitely on my very favorite adventure games list. Monkey Island 3 and 4 didn't do much for me.

I loved 1, didn't care for 2, liked 3, and disliked 4.

I liked all of them but especially appreciated the great graphics and smooth style of 3.  It was an impressive blend of beautiful backgrounds, nicely animated sprites and fun cutscenes.  I've gotta replay that game again.

I've played through both 1 and 2 numerous times and love them :). Never gotten a hold of 3 or 4, did play a demo of 3 once tho.

They are all great, but Monkey Island 1 and 3 are the best (although I liked guybrush's appearance most in MI2).
Every time I watch Pirates of the CaribbeanI am reminded of the Monkey Island series.

Same. There's a list of similarities on the web somewhere between MI and the movies.
