The Silver Lining forum has been hacked!!!

#1 Post by Boogeyman » Mon Aug 13, 2007 7:08 am

The group of assheads that are responsible are called a l . i r h a b i, and from the sound of their name, I'd say that they are Arabic. However the text on the hacked site is actually Korean! I know this because I was able to translate it with Babelfish. Some of the things I saw were: Under the Song it will bloom, System blood, it broke, point, Grudge. 911 is also visible on the hacked page. There was also a picture which contained what looked like Arabic writing, also it is hosted on an Arabic site.

Oh my! I haven't been there in a while. Perhaps I should stop in.

Ugh, I really wonder how much better the world could be if hackers found something better to do with their time.

Give the guys a break. Maybe they are just some bored Iraqis who happen to like Sierra adventures, and have internet access.

At least they are heard.

Silver Lining? The first thing I have heard of the project in years.

Isnt Silver Lining finished yet? I thought they were nearly complete when Sierra took over them or something?

That's what they said back then. What I THINK happened is that they got close to the end of the development stage (i.e: the first part of making a game) at that time and assumed the game would be ready soon. Unfortunately, that still leaves the dreaded refinement stage (the horrible second stage of the whole process) which is about as transparent as a wall of concrete and just as difficult to get through. (as we've learned from experience)

I've heard stuff about an engine switch and all and the official answer on their forums about the release date is the same as ours. (the much-hated "when it's done") Just like us, I think they learned the hard way that giving out release dates can be a risky thing to do.

I really don't think the shutdown made as much of a difference you make it out to be. Games simply always take longer to finish than you estimate at first.
