Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes sent the almighty C&D
Yeah, another fan project goes down the tubes. As often happens, the company pounced when release was imminent (in this case, a matter of weeks). Interestingly enough, some of the forum members have been asking about the possibility of getting a fan license and you-know-who was brought up...

Interesting, though he has his facts mixed up a bit. Vivendi never actually issued us a Cease and Desist order. We were contacted by them and asked to get into contact with them. We assumed the worst, but it turned out to be much better.
The Silver Lining on the other hand did receive a C&D letter. The campaign by their fanbase was instremental in reversing that order and turning it into a fan license.

Facts mixed up or a few urban legends spinning out of control. I thought about correcting people there, but thought better of it. It's comparing apples and oranges anyway...KQ and QFG were franchises that weren't really actively being used. Chrono Trigger, on the other hand, is still an active cash cow for Square and something they're (unfortunately but understandingly) very protective of.
