Dos Box question

#1 Post by seraphimdreamer777 » Wed Aug 12, 2009 12:26 am

Is there a way to make a program always open with Dos Box without having to drag the program to it?

Make a shortcut to DOSBox and change the target filename to add the path and filename of the program you want to run as a command line parameter to dosbox.exe in the field. Use quotes if the path has a directory and/or filename with spaces.

That's the only way. There's no right-click and Open With Dosbox option like VDMSound.

You can change the dosbox autoexec.bat and put an old DOS .bat menu to choose what game do you want to run.

Thanks for the help but I don't think I understand quite right. I guess I'm just an idiot. So unless there is a way to dumb down your explanation I guess I'll either never get it or I'll just have to experiment till I do. No offense. :D

It's easy. Make a shortcut to Dosbox. Right click on the icon of the shortcut you just made and go to properties. In the Target field add the path and filename of whatever program you want to run in DOSBox. So it'll look something like this:

"c:\Program Files\DOSBox\dosbox.exe" "c:\Games\Thisgame\game.exe"

Or just use a frontend for DosBox.
