Good times for adventure games

#1 Post by rugged » Tue Jul 13, 2010 11:45 pm

I think it is a pretty good time for the genre. With recent relases like heavy rain, tales of monkey island and the mi remakes. Plus soon to come releases like TSL episodes, grey matter and BTTF episodes their is a quite a bit of adventure game goodness around!

Any chance of Himalaya releasing some more details about their upcoming project soon? With TSL giving AGs a bit of a shot in the arm it could be a good time to relase some details?

Indeed. It's a great time for adventures and I'm looking forward to Himalaya's next fantasy-driven project! As well as IA's Kingdom of Sorrows! Yes, I'm on the IA dev team, but I have little idea what Sinister has planned for it in its entirety as I want the gaming experience to be fresh!

Yep I have to agree adventure gaming is doing great now. But...

Call me dense MI but I always thought you were AGDI not IA.

Oh well Both brands are great.

Are the BTTF games going to be "adventure" games? I'm still unclear about that. (sidenote: that movie has one of the best movie themes ever! It screams fun and adventure. I was just listening to it the other day. I like #3's theme best. It sounds very American to me and similar to Aaron Copland's "Hoedown" work.)

Regarding the new IPs that Telltale picked up, the only thing mentioned was that Jurassic Park would be a little different than what they normally put out. They never said anything about BTTF, though, so it's safe to assume it'll be straight adventure. I do hope there's a little bit of suspense and action in it, though. It is BTTF after all. And BTTF is all about time limits and action.
