Has anyone been playing The Odd Gentleman's King's Quest?

I've only been watching playthroughs on YouTube of it just to see what it's like (P.S. why is it seem almost impossible to find a game play-through without some idiots annoying commentary throughout the entire thing?). I like it so far. I like all the little nods and mentions to the previous games. I got the impression that it was gonna be a full on remake of KQ1 but apparently it's not soooooo I guess remakes of KQ2, 3, and 4 are out of the question here (will we ever get our KQ4 remakes? *sighs*). My only nitpick is how lanky Graham is, I hope in future games he buffs up a bit. I'll always love and admire buff DILF Graham. Always. >D

Honestly, I don't really like the artwork. I saw the artist doing examples of the watercolors he did which they scanned in and, while it's a nice idea, I really just don't like the look and feel of it. I'll probably give the game a try at some point but it's kind of a turnoff.

I was cautious before playing but after playing I've gotta say I'm very happy with it. There are a few concessions I'd ask for like more difficult/complex puzzle chains or the choice to toggle between retries and game overs, but I was quite impressed with their approach. It's better than anything Telltale has ever done. I'm excited to see the rest.

No, it's not a remake of KQ1/2/3 etc, but it's not really a reboot either. Old Graham is telling his grandaughter stories from his youth that were not (so far) a part of the original series of games, so they take place in between. The only part that was retold was getting the magic mirror from the dragon.

I say get it. It's a new sort of King's Quest and Graham is a bit hyperactive and skinny, but he's supposed to be like 16 or something in the first chapter. He gets older in each chapter, but the classic KQ vibe is there too and there's a lot of great nods and injokes. And I love the artwork. It's very beautiful. Not at all a turnoff like KQ7 was to me.

TL;DR, play it it's good. It can be better, but it's better and more faithful to the original adventure spirit than anything Telltale has ever made. I'm glad TOG got the rights instead of Telltale. By far.
