QFG IV CD Sound/Audio Problems

#1 Post by Blackthorne519 » Tue Jul 27, 2004 11:30 pm

Well....... the age old question!

Check this. I just got the QFGIV CD off of Ebay. (Thanks Parrot!) Now, when I try and play it, the music works fine, and the speech works fine, for a few text boxes. Then.......nothing. Hmm.

I'm running Windows 98, and I run the game in dos, because I hate the windows version. Anyone got any ideas WHY the speech stops after a while?

VDMSound is designed for NT-based OS'es - that is, 2000 and XP.

Though I think there's a 9x-version, it might not work. And the "regular" NT version most clearly won't.

Heh. I'll get over it...... I beat the game, again, without hearing voices. Maybe that's a good thing. My shrink thinks so.

Besides, DOSBox gives me gout.

There are definitly some voices worth hearing in that game, Katrina's and Dmitri come readily to mind.

One of the voices in the game (the Narrator's if I'm not mistaken) is done by John Rhys-Davies, or so I've heard.

(for those of you who don't know: he played Gimli on Lord of the Rings)
