About QFG2VGA Beta testing

#1 Post by Alliance » Thu Aug 12, 2004 6:42 pm

Hey, I was wondering if people were still beta testing QFG2VGA. I would love to beta test it, so if you guys are beta testing, can you send a beta test to me. I really need something to do. Otherwise I might go crazy from the boredom. If anyone will send it to me, send it to me at webspider202@hotmail.com

It's not in the beta testing stage yet. When that time comes, there'll be an announcement on the forums.

Oh...well, someone said it was being beta tested, but I must have been wrong. Keep me informed, though.
BTW, when do you think it'll come out?

The most accurate answer to that question is in the FAQ.

I didn't see a release date in the FAQ. I'm guessing the "whenever it's stable" part is when that'll be out.

Right now, we're not exactly sure when we will release QFG2VGA. It is currently slated for a late 2004 release, but this is subject to change. You can read about QFG2VGA's development in our frequently updated Designer Journals.
And...
QFG2VGA feature page wrote:RELEASE INFORMATION
Now that King's Quest II: Romancing The Stones has been released, the development team will concentrate on the Quest For Glory II remake. The scheduled release date cannot be predicted at this point, but as completion draws closer, information will be posted here.

12/01/03 Update: QFG2VGA will be released sometime in 2004. A more specific estimate is not available.

Well, I meant the beta test, or even a small demo.

Oh. Okay...
Oh, out of sheer curiosity, would anyone have the character sprites of the hero from QFG3? I know the AGD's probably used it originally for their concept character. Could someone give me that instead? I just want the walking, running and sneaking animations.

Well, the SCI decoder doesn't work with it, I don't know how to use FreeSCI, I suck at the Printscreen method, DosBox is slow, are there any other utilities that would work with it?
Oh, by the way, I read a while back the AGD's released a demo called "The June Demo" Could someone let me have that?

Any demo's you may see mentioned in any past or future news updates are internal demo's for the development team only.

Well, anyhow, Erpy would you have the old concept sprites for the QFG2VGA game? Just the old concept one's. I really need them to make a QFG fangame (no it won't be perverted like QFG4 1/2)
I just need the walk, sneak, and run animations.
Please?

Out of curiosity, do you have any experience in gamemaking? I noticed plenty of ambition (the SQ6-poll), but the game making forum is filled with projects that ended nearly as quickly as they were announced. (i.e: too quickly)

Well, I know how to use AGS really well, and I can draw sprites okay.
In fact, while I was waiting for some replies, I actually drew my own version of the QFG2VGA hero to pass the time.
Here it is:

Here are a few I found on my hard drive. Most of the animations I saved are of the hero in his blue QFG2 outfit though.

Hey, thanks, Erpy. The side one's slightly blurry. Hmm...

Actually, he's right. The walking-east one was twice as big as the diagonal ones for some reason, so the reason it's slightly blurry is because I had to resize it.

Right, wrong. I ripped a whole bunch of sprites from QFG1 and QFG3. Took me days to get them all right. Getting sprites isn't easy work, so when someone complains when they're handed a gift horse, it bugs me.

Whats wrong with QFG4.5? It's a fantastic game.

If you want the sprites I can email at least the walking animations to you. Whats your email address??? Actually, I've only got the hero from QFG1 if thats gonna work.
