Shortly after the above happened the forums went down (as I'm sure you noticed)

Seem to be fine now, what happened Erpy/Navy?

Did we get hacked??

Provided that those virii really did come from the main page, then yes. Those would not appear there unless someone broke into the server and replaced the front page (redirect to here). Best to check if phpBB is fully up to date...

Yep www.agdiforums.com redirected to something called www.toolbarpartner.com and some other things. www.agdiforums.com/forum was fine it was just the main domain that must have been hacked.

I wonder if the Sudakian Invasion Skuadron had something to do with this?

There have been several phpBB exploits that can grant access to the entire server. Generally, people who exploit these securiy holes will go for the frontpage, since they expect most people start there.

BTW, think you could create a thumbnail of that image or link to it instead? It makes the page scroll at anything below 1280x1024.

I have seen this sort of thing before. However, this incident had a couple of differences.

1. There was a blank page. Usually the hacker will put up a page saying who hacked it.

2. Hackers usually don't distribute viruses.

That would depend on the intent of the hacker. If his intent is to destroy or have people run scripts that will give him control over their computers, I could very well imagine this as his weapon of choice.

Besides, I believe Navy is the only one who has access to file-related operations - and you don't really believe HE did it, do you? ;)

No official word yet from Erpy/Navy? Surely they must have been the ones who fixed it?

Navy certaintly wouldn't have done it. I suspect SIS might have done it, most likely to put Viruses on Fribbi's computer.

I can't imagine who else could have done it, seeing as they clearly had malicious intent.

Angelus, as you should know, Erpy is away in Arizona right now.

What I meant is, it must have been Erpy or Navy that fixed the domain name hack. You'd think they would post to let us know what happened.

Navynuke is also with Erpy in the US (unless he is back home now) but they both have internet access from where they are.

Actually, I'm back home right now. This is the first chance I've had to check the forums though.

I don't know anything about a hack, and it's not likely that Erpy or the AGD's did anything. It was more than likely the domain host that caught the intrusion. I'll check with them today after work and see if they have more information.

Just about any attention whore trying to impress someone by using a (probably well-known) exploit. That would explain why the page put up was so untraditional.

I strongly doubt the SIS have anything to do with this, since they created so poor web pages.

Though the fact they were spreading viruses suggests malicious intent.

The lack of a proper web page COULD have just been to hide their identity.

What we're trying to say is, there is no way on Earth SIS have the intelect to hack a website.

SIS, immature teenangers from Spain, NOT HACKERS.

Upon returning home and checking my email, I found a message from the domain host claiming they had had to do emergency maintenance on the server our site resides on. Sounds like it should all be cleared up though. I'm sorry if anyone got infected from the attack.

The nerve of some people...

Well man, I don't know I think I'd rather get a virus, and wipe it out with Norton than actually have someone trying to kill me.  Those years spent in Air Force Cadets come in handy, but it's still never enjoyable to be doing battle at your house.  I think I'd rather get a computer virus any day (provided Norton has a patch to wipe it out)

I thought the sarcasm was obvious. Also I agree that Violence is never right. not once in the past 2 years since I quit my lessons have I ever engaged combat myself. It didn't solve anything to fight. just made him fearful and that's not how I like to solve my problems at all.

No need to apologize.  It was probably mostly the beer now that I think about it.   ;)
