hard time getting to dragon's lair

NEVER MIND, I FOUND MY WAY IN, I'LL JUST HAVE TO START THE GAME ALL OVER AGAIN.                well, i cut the bucket off the rope of the well in the early stages of the game, and now when i go down the well i drown, is there anyway to reattach the bucket to the rope so that i can get to the opening at the bottom of the well?  i've already got the chest, and now need the mirror so the condor can pick me up so that i can get the mushroom, to get the shield.  HELP!!!!!!!!!  i'm fairly far into the game, as i've played the original KQ by sierra, so was familiar with some of it.
