New Translation

#1 Post by saulob » Sat Feb 24, 2007 5:26 am

Hello guys.

Ok, I searched and no luck. So.. my question.

I read the forum, I read the FAQ, I know that they will not release any new translation.

So, can I make my personal one and release to my friends the 'saulob.tra' file (just an example) ?

I mean, I just need to edit the files. How can I do that ?

Can anyone make the translation.txt file avaiable for me ? please....
Or where can I get it ?

thanks.

I'm not really sure if I'd feel comfortable making the translation template available to the public, to tell you the truth. (it would basically give the public free control over the in-game text) What language would "saulob" be, out of curiousity?

Hello Erpy, thanks for the reply.

The language would be Brazilian Portuguese.

A lot of games it's released only on Spanish... and Portuguese is forgotten....

I remember the old days, when LucasArts released their games in Portuguese...

Well, today I'm in a group called ScummBR, we are translating some old games.

So, I found out about KQ1VGA and no luck in a Portuguese one. Some guys asked about and I'm here ;)

And no... I will not edit the control over the in-game text... nothing like that. :)

but, too bad I can't get the template :(

thanks...

Hello, I would like to translate KQ1 into Czech language.
Could you please send me txt file generated by AGS?
I will translate texts and then you only compile this translation into .tra file...
Thank you very much...

neoen, like you read, I didn't get any reply since february.

So I didn't get any TXT file to translate, no luck.

Good luck on your translation.

Sorry neoen, but there's no longer a translation phase in process, so we can't send you a template either.

That is a pitty.
Many thousands people would be happy to play this great remake in Czech. And it would be about five minutes for authors of this game to generate .txt file and then import it and make .tra file. Nothing to develop, only export and import. And if you do not want to newly release it, so I can upload it myself on my adventure website.
No problem.
But it is your choise...
Best regards...

So, what about new Czech translation for Kings Quests now during recompilation of these games?

Thank you for your help...

Not only will the new versions not support new translations, but they'll no longer officially support the old translation packs either.

It's too big a task to maintain and we cannot have enough quality control over the outcome of the translation.

No support for the languages that it was translated to? Is there a reason for that? Well I'm glad I still have a copy of the last version you had for the game.

There are some minor changes in the text for the new version, so the old translations wouldn't work, anyways.
