Original Instructional Manual Online ?

#1 Post by W5WMW » Tue Mar 25, 2008 3:05 am

Is the instruction for the 1984 and/or 1990 KQ1 version (or any other version) available for download somewhere ?

Ditto for KQ2.

Thank you !

Are you absolutely sure about that AGD2? Did you even click on the download option? If you had, you would see if opens only a manual for the game in a PDF file, not an "abandonware" game or anything like that. There are no game downloads on that site whatsoever that I've seen, only manuals. I'm not trying to argue with you, but please check for yourself next time.

Yes, I checked. The site clearly links to another site (in clear view) where the games can be downloaded. I even confirmed it for myself by clicking a download link to see if the game download would start. It did.

Hmm, there is a link on there to abandonware? Give me a moment to check that, I may have missed it. I had meant the site itself was manuals only.

Edit: Where exactly is this link to other sites option? I'm having a bit of trouble finding it. I tried to use the sitemap to find the links section but to no avail. Could you please send me a PM explaining where you found this?

When I clicked the first link, it didn't open up the same page that the one AMG just posted. It came up with another page with links to abandonware sites.

Anyhow, I don't want to have to spend time going through sites like this to check out whether they are legit or not. So I'd prefer if they be kept off the forum. If you really must pass the link on to him, please do it via PM or email, rather than on the public forum.

Thanks.

Hm ok, sorry about that. I thought I had set up the link to go directly to the King's Quest II manual download option. Not abandonware or anything like that, I've been around long enough to know & understand things like that are not tolerated. I went back to the site and page I posted, clicked on it & it opened a PDF file of the manual on my web screen that was open. I didn't see anything about a game download itself. The site AMG posted was the same place I had, just his was the main page and mine was setup for KQII manual download.

Alrighty, I sent him the link that I had posted earlier via PM. Hopefully that or what AMG has posted helps him out.

W5, searching on Google would have been less of an effort than to ask for it here. Hmmm... I'd say about 10 key-presses and 2 mouse-clicks.

(PS: It is just a quick observation. Please continue posting on this forum.)

It's all good Gronagor. Nothing wrong with trying to help out a person in need. At least he's not like the majority of others who have mainly asked for illegal downloads of older generation games. My question now is, do manuals of these games also fall into the category of abandonware? IF Erpy, AGD2, or Navy should say yes to this question, then I'll remember that for future reference and send by PM next time instead of posting links.

This is kinda complicated since several Sierra manuals contain copy protection codes and giving those out isn't allowed either. I suppose we could allow sites that only have those manuals that don't contain copy protection codes, but you really going to make us perform that check?

Nah Erpy, I'm not saying the mods themselves have to make the check. Good point about the copyright part, I forgot some games have those. I won't post that site anymore in any threads. If anything, would it be fine to send a link through PM instead of posting? That way we do not have to have to go through this again.
