Voice and Music Packs.

#1 Post by tylerok » Mon Aug 04, 2008 5:12 am

So I gather that nothing is available for download until they find server space....

So where can I get the KQ1 voice and music packs if not from here?

Right now neither game will be available for the time being. They're undergoing a slight tweaking process. We didn't want people drawn here by QFG2VGA's imminent release to download two outdated projects while new versions of those projects were only a few months away.

"Slight tweaking"? Was this already announced? Did I miss it?

We're also in the process of preparing somewhat of a surprise for the future (two of them, actually) which fans of the first two King's Quest remakes should enjoy, but to say any more at this point would be telling.
That was two and a half years ago. Is there an update to this? Are the surprises still coming (or did I miss them)?
Are the updated versions the surprises? :D

The major reason for recompiling the other two games is to update the instances of "Tierra" with AGDInteractive. This is being done for legal reasons. Because we are having to recompile, we are taking the opportunity to update the 3D animated logo, fix some bugs, and compile with a newer version of AGS.

If you've played the other two games, you'll probably notice some differences. Basically this was a refinement process.

Will the ESC key finally bring up the menu (and pause the game) like in other Sierra games? :D

Heh. You guys should backup your files. I still have backups of the first releases of KQ1 and KQ2 plus every version since then. :)

I just have a backup of the last update. I don't think there is a reason to backup prior releases...

Well, admittedly, I have a fascination with collecting out-of-date game software. I'm pretty obsessive about owning every (noticeably) different version of every Sierra adventure game ever. I've got quite a collection as a result, too.

I have to admit that collecting older versions of Sierra games is interesting. Mainly due to locations being renamed (i.e. SQ4), or random characters taken out (i.e. QFG1VGA Earl from dinosaurs appears in the forest in older versions). But I just don't know about keeping older versions that are filled with bugs.

Im just hoping that they can fix the random crash problem that Im having with Kq1VGA by recompiling it with a newer version of AGS.

Will the reported bugs over the years be fixed with these releases? And since it's being recompiled with the new AGS, will that mean smaller download files?

We're adressing whatever we can. I wouldn't count on smaller download files though. If anything, the game'll be larger. We might make the music and speech file part of the game itself too.

Larger...you aren't by any chance updating the backgrounds (with a certain AGD's recently openly expressed dissatisfaction with the early works in mind)?

Why do I keep asking these things anyway? Are all the silences yesses? :(

I'd think they're more along the lines of "We can neither confirm nor deny..."
