Questions on animations-

#1 Post by Mandaren » Sat May 19, 2001 9:34 pm

Just curious about some things in screenshots I have seen of the VGA remake of Kings Quest 1. I see one screenshot of a lake in it, is there animation for the water or is it just still. Wondering about other animations that you have added in the game, as it seems from the developer journals that you are trying to add as many as you can. I would definitely enjoy hearing more on this part of the remake.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/umandaren.show ... andaren at: 5/19/01 4:37:57 pm

The lake water is just a still image at the moment, but only because we ran out of animation frames in AGS before we could include any lake animations. I plan to try adding some animation to the lake water soon though. But the lakes do have a sunlight glistening animation in the centre of them, which doesn't look bad at all. I don't know if the lakes even really need to have animated water come to think of it.

All the rivers do have animated water, and the KQ game includes a lot of misc. animations such as birds flying, the squirel running and we've added some extra death animations for when the ogre, wolf and rat kill you (instead of that cloud of dust with fists and stars flying out of it).. But the most fun thing to animate for me, was definatley the dragon!

And for me, I'd have to say the most fun thing to animate was anything from the Royal Quest game! Some of those animations got to be over 30 frames long, and I definitely got carried away<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> But, I don't want to give away too much information about what's going to be in that game quite yet. I'd rather everybody gets to see it without knowing about it so that they can be surprised when they get to play Royal Quest<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Very impressive, I am continually amazed at everything that is going on with this project. I enjoyed reading about the different animations you have in the game, sun light glistening on the water, animals moving around in the areas. I am glad that you are adding so much life to both the VGA remake and the parody of Kings Quest 1. I am indeed so glad that I found out about this project as it looks like all three of you are putting your best forward, in all areas, art, animations, and so many other things. You are not rushing this project out but taking your time and doing your very best. I enjoyed reading about all the animations in the game and glad you did not reveal all of them, so that we can find them ourselves.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/umandaren.show ... andaren at: 5/20/01 1:47:49 am
