King's Quest I VGA has been officially released!!!!!!

#1 Post by Milan Easton » Wed Aug 08, 2001 4:13 am

That's right! You're eyes don't decieve you.. KQ1VGA is now available to be downloaded from the downloads page!

As is usually the case with these things, we hit every major drawback and hassle along to way while trying to upload the darn game.. we experienced absolutely every problem, from internet disconnections, to uploading failures, to our webpage authoring program bombing out on us! Eventually, we succeeded though<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Alright, to download the game go to the downloads page:

<a href="http://www.qknowledge.net/royalquest/do ...

....and click on the "King's Quest 1: Quest for the Crown (VGA remake) " link, at the left hand side of the page, then just follow the download instructions.

When the game has finished downloading, you'll need to install it. To do so, just run the downloaded KQ1VGA.exe program and follow the on-screen instructions to copy the game files to your hard drive. Please make sure that you READ the readme.txt file before playing the game to get all the latest info.

Once installed, run Kqmenu.exe to start the King's Quest VGA Launcher. The launcher has buttons which allow you to Change the game settings, read the manual, play the game and more! Click on "options" to change your game settings, and click on "Play Game" to run the King's Quest 1 VGA.

You may also want to browse through the manual, especially if you're not familiar with the King's Quest series, or how to play point and click adventure games.

Please Note: This version of the game hasn't been fully tested for compatibility with the yet-to-be-released voice pack. The voice pack should work with this version of the game, but please be aware that if you download this first version of KQ1VGA, you may have to re-download another updated version later, when the voice pack has been released.

If your video card only supports 15-bit color, or you are running Win2000, the icons may not be as responsive as they should be. Sometimes they might need more than a single click to register. This problem is currently being looked into, but is minor and we felt that it wasn't worth delaying the release over.

The Anonymous Game Developers hope you enjoy playing this game and re-experiencing the land of Daventry once again! Let us know what you think.

All future comments on the King's Quest game Should be posted in the "King's Quest 1 VGA" Forum.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/uanonymousgame ... >Anonymous Game Creator 2 at: 8/8/01 12:06:01 am

Can't download the game

#2 Post by Ashikaga » Thu Aug 09, 2001 7:20 am

Hi, I tried to download the game and followed the instruction, but instead of getting the game, it only downloaded the HTML page instead. I am using IE 5.5, and usually I can right click on the link to save, but this one is a button (therefore, no such option). So what can I do? :-(

Ashikaga

And voila.

I hope this would help others who stucked like me. I really appreciate that you guys put so much effort to remake this game (and being articulate and mature in describing your passions with this particular project <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> ).

Ashikaga

This is great, I'm really excited! But, on trying to play the game, the screen went black and wouldn't load. Reading the manual, it says I have to enter a disk! What disk is it talking about?

Hi Professional! Are you still having the problem with loading the game? Originally, we made the manual to go out with the compact disks that we were going to give away in competitions, but we decided that we wanted to wait to have the competition until Royal Quest was near completition. Therefore, we decided to make the manual available in HTML format for everyone to read along with the internet download of the game, and will most likely still make printed copies for the future competition.
When you click on KQmenu, it starts up a menu where you can select setup, and you can change your display device. This might help you solve your problem. If not, please email us at rqbugs@hotmail.com, and we'll try to further assist you.

Thanks,

Anonymous Game Developer #1
