Re:help
On the "Map" that has a link in the forum, the cave is the entrance/exit the "Giants Cloudland", I came up in the beanstalk and wonder if it is easier to go back down it.

Re: Cave Help
Hmm...so it's not AGS or the game, then it must be your monitor. Can you see something resembling a wooden pathway in the screenshot I posted, or is it just a big black square? Can you see the WALK cursor clearly, as well as Graham?

~Wolfgang

Re:Cave help
I can see Graham Clearly, and the walking cursor, I thought it was my monitor, Everything else (except for a few rocks) is Dark Blue, I can't see anything resembling a wooden walkway .could you (please) highlight (in red) the walkway in all the chambers in that cave.

Re:Re:Cave Help
Though, if I go on the "Map" forum link, I can save pictures and invert them in paint, allowing me to see the walkway on my moniter (but not during the game), are there any holes on the walkway?

Re: Re:Re:Cave Help
No, there are no holes in the walkway. So long as you follow it, you'll be alright.

~Wolfgang

Re: Re:help
Aside from brightening up your monitor, no. Your monitor should have some brightness controls somewhere on it. Are all of your other programs running a bit "dark"?

~Wolfgang

Monitor Brightness
The Monitor is a bit darker than any other monitor, but it only really (looks like it) affects things that are dark especially in computer games

Re: Monitor Brightness
Make sure you try adjusting the contrast also. Sometimes that makes the colors blend together in a darker shade.

Re:Monitor Brightness
Thank you navynuke04, but that makes it darker . The Computer is Windows XP pro, would anyone be a technology-expert and tell me if there is anything in the control panel to help

Re: Re:Monitor Brightness
Well, the Control Panel contains all of the different colour settings, but AFAIK the only way to make your monitor darker or lighter is on the monitor itself (hardware-driven, rather than software-driven) using knobs and buttons. You could try looking at your video card settings in the Control Panel, but I don't know how that would help much.

What kind of monitor (and how old is it) and video card do you have?

~Wolfgang

Re:Monitor Brightness
The monitor type is a Pentium 3 700 Megahertz and is fairly old (2 or 3 years), as for the video card I can't be sure (i'm not the expert of the house)

Re: Re:Monitor Brightness
Actually, Pentium 3 700MHz is your processor, not your monitor.

To find out what kind of video card and monitor you have, click the Start button, then select "Run". In the box, type dxdiag and wait for it to get your system specs. Once it's done loading (the green bar in the bottom-left corner will go away), click the "Display" tab. It'll tell you the name and manufacturer of your video card (at the top) and what type of monitor you have (at the bottom of that list).

~Wolfgang

Re: Re:Monitor Brightness
Hmmm...I did a quick search on the Viewsonic E790 and a few people have commented that the monitor does display darker than other monitors, so maybe that's the problem. If you've turned the brightness all the way up on your monitor and it still doesn't help, then your pretty much out of luck. Still, KQ1VGA's screens aren't anywhere near as dark as, say, some of the FPS games I've played, so even a monitor that isn't very bright still shouldn't have a problem displaying them. Your video card is fine, so I'm guessing it's your monitor.

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that!

~Wolfgang

Re: Re:Monitor Brightness
Of course, there's a way to get to Cloudland and back without having to go through the cave and it gives you more points too.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashs ...

A Helpful hint
If anyone else has a ViewSonic E790 and wants to get through the dark caves, they can save a screenshot (F12) and load up paint, find the screenshot and load it, then invert the colours (ctrl+i) and then dark will be bright, and what was bright will be dark<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
