Go to the western part of the carrot garden, go north twice and it should be on the ground.

Umm, what the heck is the use of spoiler tags when someone admits to using a walkthrough?

(not to mention the fact it's hard to give vague hints about the exact location of an item)

uhh it may be a bug but from the west side of the garden I went north twice and it wasn't there. I have the bucket but I do not think that is supposed to be the bowl if is a bug then I will try the second. I got this game from gamehippo and I'm wondering if it's at all different from this one. It is not on the ground.

Thanks:Scott

You may either have picked it up already or you're looking in the wrong screen. On our main site in the KQ1VGA section, there's a walkthrough that contains a map of Daventry.

nevermind instead of getting the bowl I got the leaf clover and that did the trick of winning the game.

Bowl isn't there

#9 Post by Ruslana » Tue Feb 22, 2005 4:56 am

Greetings.

Had the same problem...there is no bowl, no matter how many times I go back from any of the connecting screens.

Any ideas?

Great job, BTW.

You know the screen with the Elf, right? Go north from there and the bowl will be right next to a bush.

Definitely no bowl!

#11 Post by Ruslana » Tue Feb 22, 2005 2:22 pm

110% positive, that is the right screen and there is no bowl.

I've played and finished all the original KQ games and I'm not an idiot!!

Is there an order that things have to be done in on the new VGA KQ1?

But it might be my monitor too - its very dark in alot of scenes....can someone describe where on the screen this bowl is and I'll 'grab' in that general area?!

Thanks

Check the map section of the walkthrough. The bowl screen is shown in the map. The bowl is the dark-blue thing on the ground at the base of the left tree.

Have printed map of Daventry, have correct scene, still no blue bowl. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but
I get the feeling that I really need it to feed the starving people and ultimatlely complete the game.
Is this correct?  Frustrated.  Please help if you can.  Thanks

Maybe one of you is talking about kq1vga and the other about the original kq?

I didn't play the vga game yet, but maybe a screenshot of the 'room' with the bowl could be helpful, if you dont need to do too many things before you can get to it...

Here are screenshots of the bowl screen from both Sierra versions of Kings Quest 1. I was not able to provide you with a screenshot from AGDI VGA version yet because i've uninstalled my copy. I'm downloading it now, since i've been meaning to for a while. Once i've got it i'll post the bowl screen from it.

EDIT: Added Kings Quest 1 VGA Bowl Screenshot

If the problem is with the VGA version may want to make sure you have the latest version of the game. If this is a bug it would likely have been fixed in the newest version.

In answer ot your question: It is necessary to get and use the bowl to achieve maximum points. I believe there are alternative ways to complete the puzzles needed to complete the game but you will not get full points.

If you still can't get the bowl then i recommend starting a new game. I walked one screen west from castle to the rock screen, then south until I got to the screen with the walnuts, then I went one screen east to the bowl screen in all 3 versions. The bowl was there everytime.

Very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do that, Music Head. I was going to do something similar, but hadn't gotten the time yet. You rock.

Thank you soooooo much.  I appreciate the assistance.  I finally found the bowl, was a bit tricky, but was patient.  I sooooo enjoy these quest games.  I cheated a bit, after much frustration, nevertheless, was still fun.
Now onto King's Quest 2.  Thank you guys, for redoing these series of quest games, thus giving us hours of fun.  GREAT WORK.
Thank you again.
