Why not rip the frames straight from LB2? It seems to me to be a good yet small way to keep a little continuity between the games.

I woke up this morning, thought I'd have a nice relaxed day; do a bit of reading, brush the dog, it's now just after four in the afternoon and I'm already being thrown out of an alien spaceship five light years from the smoking remains of the Earth!

I suggest getting rid of that neon "remake 2004" sign.

It looks really gaudy.
________________

"You're a good guy, Doc. You're sensative and caring and compassionate. I gave it a try, but clicking the key on EGO crashed the game.

What exactly were you trying to test, btw? Because you mentioned that the graphics in there weren't gonna be used anyway. (maybe for the better. Can't imagine Roger searching the mansion and the colors gave me a bit of a headache after staring at them for a long time)

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashs ...

When I clicked the key on EGO, the game gave it's final message and ended. It didn't crash...

I agree with Erpy that it doesn't really look like you tested much. I wouldn't stick with the water-colorish backgrounds. It didn't seem quite right.

My advice to you would be to rip the graphics directly from the game. Do this with the backgrounds and the animations. Use the ripped graphics to script several rooms, even a complete puzzle from the game. I did this with KQ3 and it attracted quite a bit of attention. I ended up getting an artist and a musician (smiles at Muzlak and MusicallyInspired). The best way to gain interest in your project would be to create a demo like I described. People are a lot more willing to help you when they see that you can and will actually be able to script the game. If we had continued work on KQ3, it probably would have been completed by now. And it all started from ripped graphics of Gwydion and the Wizard's kitchen.

this was one of the toughest demos to beat!!
i searched all the place, i could not find a clue why laura was dressed like roger. Then the following question came to my mind. Why the programmer says about colonel's bequest? Should it be better to put the transexual's bequest? Is roger transexual? or laura? Chances are against roger if we take into account emparrasing event of being dressed like a woman in skateorama.

The picture seemed like it was a real photo in its old glorious days, which some filters made it in this ahem . .strange look.

At last after 3 hours i found the key.But i kept it. I do not read other people's letters.I am a good boy.
at least your demo was better thatn mine.It had an inventory item <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

EDIT : navynuke : all of your suggestions you give, were given by me in previous post, but it seems that he wants to follow a completely different route. Let's wait and see the result.I know that all of us can be really crap in our first attempt(i.e background). But after some practise and a little good taste in mind things can be improved.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... turer76 at: 11/24/03 1:21 am

My favorite part is at the end when you have everything and you go to unlock the mailbox.

The first background will be ready in the next couple days. There are a couple cool things about it, and of course your feedback will be considered.

I don't see the relevance or similarity to Colonel's Bequest, other than the fact you stuck what's supposed to resemble a mansion in the background, which incidentally looks nothing like the mansion from the game (perhaps you're redesigning the mansion exterior?). What, praytell, is a "technology demo" anyway?

Quote:
Check out this demo we slapped together for testing!

Who exactly is "we"? And how long did it take [all of] you of you to make this? Perhaps you should wait until you have something more substantial next time, even if it takes longer than Christmas 2003. The AGS gamemaking community isn't really geared toward meeting specific deadlines, and I assume most of us would rather see something decent and useful rather than something that was just "slapped together" to meet a deadline.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... ms>Migs at: 11/26/03 5:29 pm

Ok, this is what we have done so far:

1. Font is set in stone. Looks good at 640x400 and we know who to Credit and check on Licensing if necessary.

2. In Demo 2.0 the island is going to be scrolling, left to right (not up and down at all), so the trick was using only 16 hotspots plus 16 objects (which gives you 32 hotspots to click on). There really isn't much to do in the game so that background is currently being painted (mansion view is something like a 7 screen panorama so you can walk the whole island). It's scrolling now, but not like we want.

3. We have a nice notebook put together with the entire script, easter eggs, death sequences, anything of note. For instance, what music we play with each sequence, when sound effects have to play, when we need special animations (like when Laura cranks the thing, or gets eaten by Al Ligator). Also timing so that you don't miss any part of the game, certain things won't happen until you watch, so you don't miss a part of the story.

4. Then we have a screenplay 'Electronic' notebook where all the dialogue is being assembled. Global Messages are being separated from Room Messages (it's a very wordy game).

This is a very straightforward game, most of it is cutscenes and the list of characters is tiny, and the list of items is 15 or so. We look forward to working with specialists to polish our game -- basically if you want to help in your specialty let us know.

Jodo Kast
