But I didn't offer to coordinate! I haven't even played the game! I was offering advice to YOU, so you can do a better job at getting this project rolling. I'd like to see this project turn out, no matter what the fashion (be it 3d, 2d, whatever). But that won't happen if you continue coordinating the way you have. That's all I meant.
---------

"I cut down trees, I wear high heels, suspenders and a brar.."
----------
Sponge Factory

Jodo,

I have no idea where you want this project to go. I haven't seen a representation of the kind of graphics you wish to have - a sample screen shot of the atmosphere and graphical style of the game and/or characters would be helpful. You say 3-D, but remember all these classic games were called 3-D animated adventure games....... they already were in 3-Dimensions...... 2-D would be like the original side-scroller, Super Mario Bros. If you mean 3-D as the crap that gets spewed out as games and art, play an X-Box or a PS2.... these games had a certain style and artwork to them, and I don't want nor like that "computer-y" look to characters..... I like the look of hand painted backgrounds, and pixel-realized characters based off of drawings. I mean, really, if I wanted 3-D rendered adventure quests, I'd be playing Final Fantasy 12 now, not reading about Sierra Remakes and stuff. I'd be playing Metal Gear Solid, or watching The Phantom Menace...... forgive me, but I have a sense of love and nostalgia for these older games. I like the remakes in the sense that they improve on certain things..... but only to a point.... they bring the games from the 80's into the.....well...... the 90's...... hah! But, hey, I like it that way and I think a lot of others do too.

Steve

This project is unserious.

C'mon, the guy hasn't got even CHARACTER'S GRAPHICS to start with, and he's already talking about the credits. Jodo, DO SOMETHING FIRST. No, not these 'technology demos'. All they demonstrate is some basic AGS features. You're talking about the LAURA BOW REMAKE, c'mon and give us the demo of the LAURA BOW REMAKE.
______________
Rules must be obeyed. "Team members" are people who are working together with you on and contributing a SIGNIFICANT amount of elements to a project on an almost daily basis. There's no need to mention anyone else. Example: In KQ1VGA 3.0, I'm listed as a beta tester, even though I spend lots of time fixing bugs. But I didn't want to be next to AGD2 in the scripting section of the credits because he's still the one who scripted the entire game in the first place and people don't feel comfortable with more credit than is due. Likewise, people don't need to be in the credits for a couple of advising posts and you shouldn't refer to them as your team. People are posting here and leaving comments because that's what this forum is about. That's the one and only reason.

Quote:
Blackthorne519:
That's OK. I asked for graphics. You are now a member of the unofficial LB:TBC project." after someone gives a piece of advice about backgrounds makes people think your soapbox is too high or there's some low floating clouds adrift in the area. I recall a different, less formal, writing style from you.

Quote:
BTW: This is for all you clowns who don't understand what a Technology Demo is: You see, not everyone is as smart as you think you are, and normal people like to test the new features on hapless victims (like you) and get a response. Remarks like these will steer the thread towards a flamefest that will be locked if necessary.

With all due respect, mind if I ask the official definition of a technology demo without getting my intelligence insulted? As far as I know, a technology demo is a demo created to test the engine. When the engine is your own product, that makes sense. But for an existent engine like AGS, which you did not write and which has already proven its quality before this project was even started, a technology demo in the sense of how I defined it seems a bit...unnecessary? That's the point people were trying to make. They were just asking for the purpose behind it. Their response is yours to either reply to or ignore, but don't get all high and mighty on them, because the risk of getting angry responses is quite high. Perhaps you could rephrase your words or even leave that paragraph out completely.

Keep in mind that even though this project is probably the most important thing in the world for you (your way of speaking about that proves that), there's no way you can expect the casual or even regular forum member to feel the same. Erpy,

I have never programmed in AGS Script. It's a whole new language to learn. I even say in the Technology Demo to the effect "The art is not there for a reason so ignore it". But that was ignored and the comments don't help me. Now he knows I don't need him to do anything so pressure (discomfort) should be less...

This is a thread about a game I wanted to make. We got a team together, we got some public feedback, the product will be released as scheduled; please don't threaten me with shutting down this thread. The game needs more feedback and I appreciate it. He's refraining not because he wants to, but because you've given him nothing to go on. Even if he was a paid employee, it's not a matter of "Brainstorm and Deal with It." It's a matter of the project leader having a plan, a design idea, and communicating that so that others will follow it to accomplish the goal.

Nonetheless... good luck on your Christmas Demo.

Oh. Sorry. I didn't understandd you.
But I just can't give feedback on a bunch of old EGA screens agglutinated in one with standard Roger walking around! Yeah, Jodo,

Do you speak English as a primary language? I think you're hitting some barriers here...... I'd love to help and do whatever for the game..... but I don't know what you want, graphic-wise...... there hasn't been ONE example From The Colonel's Bequest in the style that you want..... just vague hints like - 3-D style.... and "Poser" characters. I just want to know what you're going for, so we can be on the same page......

Steve

Blackthorne,

Can I call you Blackthorne? I talk in the mysterious Sierra language style you know and love.

Sometimes I just tell you, "You can't do that now"

"Try something else." Get it? those are memorable Sierra Error messages.

Please wait for the Christmas Demo. Once it's released you can work similar to the design we got, or you can make something different, it's your call (work on the specific list of items I posted earlier, alligators, etc). Since we are trying to look 3D but we are 2D, you are working in the same confines as us. Feel free to express 3D in 2D how you want - there are lots of techniques from gradients to shadows to combination of perspectives and such.

For now listen to a Christmas music Shoutcast stream or radio station and pretend it's Christmas Day... the sun and moon are racing across the sky every 24 hours, but it's the same day! Um.. nevermind.

It's funny I saw the Pleurghburg: Dark Ages comments and then it said:

*Sigh* It's a real shame. People around her didn't seem to notice her laying there. Wal-mart later called and offered to hold a DVD player for the woman. Postscript: I think she was mouthing off about something or other. So after the rush left her there on the ground, the crowd probably checked to make sure she was breathing, laid her on top of a DVD player and said 'Let her be'. It's a warm story isn't it?)

What the???

Quote:
MusicallyInspired : Myself, I think this is another joke like KQForever. Sorry if I got a little over-excited there Wolfgang, but basically I resent being called a moron and a clown by some person I've never met.

On a side note : You should have seen my post Before I edited it to remove swearing and general flaming.

I woke up this morning, thought I'd have a nice relaxed day; do a bit of reading, brush the dog, it's now just after four in the afternoon and I'm already being thrown out of an alien spaceship five light years from the smoking remains of the Earth!

Quote:
Can someone tell me the websites for KQforever

I think you have a VERY long (albeit amusing) thread to read. It's right here. Be sure to bring along some icecubes in your drink, there's a lot of hot air in there.

Regarding this particular project, there's no website.
Quote:
Why'd you delete my post?

Because there was only a " " in that post and nothing else. The post had no purpose.
