Aboult half way through now. Excellent recorded voices. I mean, Josh's voice actually sounds good this time. Not that I don't like his voice, but in KQ1, you could tell the difference in everyone's sound quality and his.

----------
Sponge Factory

And there's me thinking the voice pack would end up being 100 smegabytes... 30 mgs is amazing. BTW is there an option in AGS when installing VOX files so you can hear the narrator as well or make it like Sierra's games where the facial expressions express with the word they are saying, for example, when screaming or something, the talking animation doesn't carry on, it sticks to a screaming face...?

With Ogg Vorbis files, we were really able to cut down on the filesize of the voice pack. Otherwise, the size would have certainly exceeded the 100MB mark.

AGS allows the game creator to insert narration lines, yes, but we decided not to use them in our game since there are probably more narration lines than all the other character lines put together. Additionally, there are also variations on many lines (ie. one word different) which all would have added to the filesize.

As for lipsyncing... AGS does not currently support lip syncing to voice using phenomes.

If anyone noticed in the april fools thread that started this all, I mention that the joke may be to make us think its a prank. But after rereading it a couple of times, things didn't seem right. The way Erpy responed, Kurt was acting really wierd and everything else made me think it wasn't a prank at all. So I guessed it right. WOOHOOO!
The Knight

Oh, boy! Great joke. I'm sorry that I missed it. I'm back from moving and my internet is back up. I've downloaded the new game version and speech pack, but I haven't unpacked my computer speakers yet, so I haven't played it yet.

"May the way of the hero
lead to the Triforce."

You didn't miss much anyway anathoth8. I don't have it yet because of my slow 56k modem.
The Knight

Yeah, Erpy e-mailed me making fun of me because the actor inside me desperately wanted everyone to "see the show." Well what can I say??? I was like, "Come on people!! It shouldn't be this hard!!!! Cruising at 0.16Mb/second download. I'm just making sure I've got KQ2VGA 2.0. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Just finished the game again today with the voicepack. Started it last night and got up to the story-book riddle part and continued and finished it today. I still am missing 5 points, though hmmmm....

Masterful job on the voicepack, though! I wasn't really prepared for Caldaur with a transelvanian accent, though <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> !And why does only Anastasia's voice echo out in a kind of ethereal form and Caldaur and Lavidia's doesn't? Adds to her whole mysterious-like character, I guess. Also, the way you did Possum's voice to sound like a child was VERY WELL DONE! The effects used really came off well!

"Requires MCGA, CGA, VGA, PGA, or TA-RA-RA-BOOMGA!!" -Gary Owens, SQ4

I was going to mention that. She's in the library. As you can tell, it's much bigger than the dining room. But, Graham's voice doesn't echo either. That didn't work well.

----------
Sponge Factory

Her voice also echos out while no one else's does at the finale scene. She's not in the library then.

"Requires MCGA, CGA, VGA, PGA, or TA-RA-RA-BOOMGA!!" -Gary Owens, SQ4

So Erpy.......Are you planning next years joke already? After I read that it was a joke I didn't check back on the site until last night. I just about fell out of my chair when I found out it was really true! Then all I had to do was sit back and wait for the painful and slow download. I can't wait to see what your evil plan is for 2004.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /devil.gif ALT=":evil">

I have an idea for an April Fool's Joke for 2004, but that's a long way off. I may not even be around then since I'm going out to sea soon. Yep, I know AGS supports "lip-syncing". What I mean is that it doesn't support the proper method of lip syncing which handles phenomes. Phenomes make the character's mouth form certain shapes depending on the current sound being spoken.

The lip syncing feature presently in AGS would make it very difficult to syncronize spoken dialog and would be even more tricky (not to mention time consuming) to get the full game done with this method. Heck, it would even be time consuming with phenome support!

Not to worry. The mouth movements didn't contradict the mouth too much. What I mean is it didn't look like they were talking a gazillion times faster, like they did in kq1.

----------
Sponge Factory

Does anyone here actually check out the Tierra Main page or do they just save The message board as a favourite and go there as soon as they connect to the internet.
