need help getting to castle

Hello. I can't get from the boat to the castle. I keep getting killed by those stupid thorns. Am I missing something, or doing something wrong?

Also, I got the reed & made a blowgun out of it & the needle, but I do I get poison on the needle? I tried clicking the needle in the swamp, but it won't let me.

You have an item in your inventory that will protect you from the thorns.

You do have to dip the needle in poisonous swamp water. You might just not be clicking it in the right place or something.

If you haven't been inside the castle yet, you don't have a need for a blow gun. You might try waiting until later before trying to dip the needle.
