Girl in the Tower Realm - A Tribute

#1 Post by MusicallyInspired » Wed Sep 23, 2009 5:46 am

The music of King's Quest II+ is amazing. Tom Lewandowski is a genius. I made a humble tribute to his work on KQ2+ by reworking one of my favourite themes from the game. At first I was just fiddling around with Reason and made the whole piece successfully. I then decided to take it a step further and this was the result. You may agree or disagree with the way I arranged it (I'm not sure I agree with it fully myself) but it's just an expression of my love towards the soundtrack and this is just the way it came out. Hope somebody out there enjoys it.

There's still some things I don't like about the mix. It's a little over-compressed at first glance. But it's after midnight now and I like it the way it is :).

A very beautiful rendition of one of the most beautiful and mysterious pieces in the game. I very much enjoyed listening to it.

Thank you. I'm still curious to see how it will be received by others as well. It seems most people don't really dig my odd remixes of game themes lol.

Sounds great. Did you redo this entirely by ear?

Another of my favourites is the theme that plays as Graham first enters the quartz tower, which this theme is somewhat reminiscent of.

Yeah, all by ear. I wanted to do the first Tower Realm theme as well (where Graham first walks through the Door of Destiny) but it was a lot more complicated and not as easy to pick out the notes to and it was already late so I left it out.

I tried to listen to it yesterday but I seemed to have broken my linux partition and couldn't hear anything. Fortunately windows still runs and couldn't check this one. It has brought to me fond times of my old Commodore Amiga, because the instruments sound a lot like in there. :)

That was the best song in the game (and probably one of the best song ever) and your version is very good too.
Good job!
