I've went to his house and he wasn't home what should I do want at the grandmother's house for the Dwarf to come home?

Visit the church until you see the scene with the wolves, visit grandma's cottage. Talk to Possum until she mentions the dwarf. Then the dwarf will be home. He won't come out with you standing in front of his door though.

well actually you have to go to the church,see the scene with the wolves,go to grandma 's house if you haven't done the scene with the guy in the haystack,you should talk to him and then give him your cloth and pick up the needle or something like that and then you should be able to find Possum,she will say the dwarf attacked her,knock on the treehouse door,hide right of the treehouse,when the dwarf opens and goes out,you can go inside.
