General Midi

Tom, would it be possible for you to upload the GM version of the soundtrack?. I know the digital version is far superior but I would like to compare the two versions without having to listen to it via the game.

Thanks<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

I'm guessing the answer is "no," but maybe Tom could upload some GM versions of the most popular tracks from the soundtrack, and include them on the same page.

By the way, how's everyone going on making up CD layouts? When do you want them, Tom?

CD Layouts....whenever you have one. I'm ready whenever anyone else is.

I'd rather forget the GM version even existed. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> But there may be a couple of tracks that I may post in a GM version; one or two of them did translate to GM pretty well.

Download tidbit...

As of 13DEC2002, 86% of those who have downloaded the KQ2:RTS game have also downloaded the optional digital Music Pack. Because the Music Pack is about 1/3 larger than the actual game, I was expecting a number more towards 50%. I'm pleasantly surprised!

i will most likely be starting my covers this weekend. My cousin is coming down and bringing me my new Adobe Illustrator (i ordered it online, and had it sent to him, because it was cheaper for some reason) and i can start. Im sick of photoshop for covers, since they never print well, and i have professional illustrator templates for CD covers. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Yeah, I gotta get me Illustrator someday. And the new version of Photoshop too. I bought 6.0 a few years ago at school, gotta love the educational price <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Anyways, I made do with Photoshop. I can't wait to see what some other people will come up with.

more tracks to come?

#32 Post by daeris » Sun Dec 15, 2002 12:29 am

Downloading now...the ones of significant length, anyway. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> How long will it be before you have all of the tracks posted, do you think, if you don't mind my asking? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> Currently the QuestStudios sight only goes through 32. (out of 101.)

I plan to have most, if not all of them posted by the time Quest For Glory II VGA is released. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

Hmmm...that's kind of vague, eh? I'd like to give game players the opportunity to discover the songs during game play, so when game downloads taper off, I'll start adding more songs, more frequently. (Still vague, I know.)

If I may be allowed to make a request, Tom, I'd like to listen to the Enchanter's cave quite a lot. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Could you add the Connor Knighted/MOE theme? I really liked that one. I'd play through it again but I don't have a saved game back that far.

Some of the "Second Gem Quest" music will be coming within the next couple of weeks...but I'll make sure to include the MoE/Connor themes.

Hi,

Will the end game credit song be included in the sound track page someday?
I have a page designed and ready to go that will host "WHEN I SAW YOU", along with the lyrics and a little information about how it was made (which wasn't typical.) I hope to have 'WISY', as well as most of the other music tracks from KQ2, available for download within the next couple of months.

I was finally able to convert the OGG files to WAV. Thanks for the link to upgrade Winamp 3.0 to get the diskwriter. Just trying to figure out why they left it off this version!

Three words...

#41 Post by Alderem » Sat Dec 21, 2002 3:08 pm

Why did WinAmp leave out the diskwriter in version 3?

Well, it's possible that it hadn't received enough testing at the time of the WinAmp 3 release, but there's 3 words that are more likely the cause.

AOL Time Warner.

AOL bought WinAmp and is now merged with Time Warner, which is of course a big media company positioned opposite to the "download and burn your own music to CD" idea.

I plan to burn the soundtrack to some cds, and was wondering if anyone knows if you can keep the files in the orginal ogg vorbis or do I have to convert them over to mp3?

Don't convert them to MP3. You'll lose a significant amount of quality.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nasht ...

I meant as in a audio cd, if you can keep them in the ogg vorbis form or have to convert them to have them play on a cd player.
The Knight
"You don't know the power of the sarcasm side of the forum."

You can convert them back to WAV using a digital audio editor program (like "Cool Edit"), or a playback utility like WinAmp. Once they're WAV files, you can burn them to CD as CDA tracks. You don't want to go to MP3 conversions, since the OGG files are already presented in a 'loosy' compression format -- and MP3 (also, loosy) will deteriorate their quality, whereas WAV will preserve it.

More information about OGG's and utilities for conversion are available at www.vorbis.com At present, I'm unaware of any CD burners that read the Ogg Vorbis format, but you might find something at this web site.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... forums>Tom Lewandowski at: 12/28/02 10:11:32 am

Obsessive is what I'm going through trying to create good quality Super VCD discs to use on my DVD player. I'm already into six different video programs to edit one video stream! Not a single one of them does it all.

Yeah, I'm into making VCD/SVCDs as well. It is a bit of a pain, mostly because every time I conquer a problem another one pops up. If you don't have a GREAT source to start with, you notice every little problem instantly when it gets onto your computer. I have little time to work on it unfortunately, but every once in a while I work on it some more.
