184/185 UGH!!

#1 Post by Polyethylene » Sat Sep 13, 2003 2:14 am

I followed the walkthrough by the book, and am one point off <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":("> The only place I think I might have missed one is at the air gem tests. I did "sacrificial lamb" "severing the lifeline" and then "knight time". I thought those were the best possible answers? I only got 3 points out of the test I think, should I have gotten 4? The walkthrough says "(You'll need 4 test points to get the growth gem. Each question has one best answer that nets 2 points and one second-best answer that gives you one point. The other options won't give you anything.)" Not once did I get 2 points on any of the trial answers. What am I missing?

There's some tricky wording involved in that section of the walkthrough. Basically, the term "test points" doesn't refer to actual game points. The cloud spirit tallies points based on the answer that you give in each test, and requires four points to pass the tests. But as for actual points given in the game, there are only three available.

The most likely thing you are missing is reading the five books from the library. There is one available at the beginning before speaking to the Door of Destiny; one after speaking to the Door of Destiny; two after retrieving the birth gem; and one more after collecting the death gem, but before crossing the bridge the final time. Each of these is worth one point.

I did do all the books in the library <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">

I even made a note to make sure to go back and read them at all the right times. So the max game points you can get out of the trials is 3 right? You can't get more. If so, I have no idea where I missed that last one. I made super sure to get everything! Ack!

I looked at the "alternate way to" section of the walkthrough to make absolute sure I didn't know any of these alternate ways of solving clues (which yield less points). But nope, I did everything with the maximum amount of points possible.

Just curious... did you remeber to get the letter on the bottom of the bird cage?

I didn't read all of the library books, so that post helps my 184. Well, it would, except now I'm getting 183 unlike what I got when I played the first time.

Is there some other solution in getting past the wolves at the crossroads other than running from them or slaughtering them? I think I got one point for killing them in the old version, but that's not working anymore, and the walkthrough seems to suggest there's another way to go about it.

There's a better solution to that puzzle that wasn't possible in earlier versions.
