Ability to make thief sign extended to hybrids?

In the first game of the series (V.G.A. remake at least -- and the case may have been the same in 'Wages of War' as well), assigning any thief skill or thief skills to another character type would give them the ability to make the thief sign.  This was not the case however in Q.F.G. II.

How have the game designers decided to approach this point for the remake?  It would be nice as an all-rounded hybrid fighter to have the option to take up Ferrari's assignment upon arriving at Rasier.

Thanks.

,,, You can't give the thief sign? I'm sure I have before... QfG3 is the only one I remember that wouldn't let you do other stuff...

I could be wrong... I'm too lazy to install the game to find out.

QFG1 (Original): Type "make sign" to make the Thief sign.
QFG1 VGA: I believe you simply click your lockpick on the Thieves in the alley, no other way to trigger it.
QFG2: Type "make sign". Only works if you're a Thief (and it should work if you have all Thief skills: Stealth, Lock Picking, etc., though I haven't verified it)
QFG3: I'm not sure, but I think you can only make the Thief sign if you are a Thief. Once again haven't verified it.
QFG4: Should be able to if you have Lock Picking
QFG5: Must have all Thief skills (Acrobatics, Climbing, Throwing, Stealth, Lock Picking) I know this one for sure, as I got my Paladin to make the Thief sign  :D

Thanks, mine has every skill but climbing.  Still, that didn't stop me from signing successfully in the first game, so logically, there should have been no difficulty in the second.

As for the third game, I checked and you are right.

The remake of the first game allows you to make the sign using either your lockpick or your hand icon, so a hybrid without a lockpick can still make the sign and get a lockpick at the thieves' guild.  It isn't a fluke in the game itself since using the hand icon on the thieves in the alley if you are a pure character other than a thief results in them making sarcastic remarks at your attempt to pull it off.

It should be possible, since I remember being able to enter the break-in house with a non-thief (with thieving skills) and that involves making the sign to Dinarzad.

It looks like I've committed quite the blunder.  I was wondering why I had a directory of thief savegames on the side, thinking it was because I could not make the sign with my primary hybrid character.

I made a check.  It seems that you are correct; one is indeed able to make the sign and take up Ferrari's assignment.  It turns out that the reason I tackled these things as a thief rather than with my hybrid was because every thief's task from stealing in Shapeir to the end would prevent my character from becoming a paladin.  So I segued to playing as a thief.

I'll have to apologise for starting a wasted thread.

Hardly wasted, it allowed to see how much I know about Thieves in QFG.  :D

If you have no thieving skills, on the other hand, you can attempt to make the sign but it will be incorrect (some of the descriptions for this are hilarious) and Dinarzad will say something like "Is that a Thief Sign or are you just happy to see me" or "That's cute, Hero, but these are my business hours".

so is it possible to do the thief jobs in the remake as a hybrid with the appropriate skills? i'm playing as a fighter (imported from thief-wizard hybrid in qfg1) and can't get a jobs from dinazard or pick the weapon shop all by myself.

Yes. If you have thief skills, just make the sign to Dinarzad. You can't do any thief jobs until she tells you about them though.

In QFG1 you can make the sign using the hand icon as well. Handy for a hybrid that isn't a thief.
