hello all! first of all i am really enjoying this game. however i seem to not be able to run the game with the default settings in 320 x 200. whenever i do the game actually plays but the graphics become skewed like crazy and i cant see anything of what im doing. something to do with my video card i guess, which is a nvidia geforce 7150m. then i can play the game fine in 640 x 400 mode until the game crashes for some reason and i actually have to restart my laptop. first crash happened when i was in the inn and was about to walk outside and second crash happened in guild hall when i was doing the tutorial with uhura. are these game bug issues or video card issues? how can i get the game to run in 320 x 200 in fullscreen without the chaotic graphical mess?

If the game actually crashed due to a bug in the coding, you should have gotten a message indicating the line that caused the game to bomb out. We'd need a screenshot of that message to look into the cause.

I have a similar problem. I am running an nVidia geforce 6150m. However, I can't even get the game to start - it flashes a few times like it is trying to start up, then i get a message that the resolution is not supported. I am currently running 1440 X 900 resolution, but have tried all other reslolutions too. (yes - its a wide screen/ skareenh)

If the game doesn't work in 320x200 mode, you can run the winsetup.exe file (or click the "Settings" button from the launcher) and then click the 'Force alternate letterbo resolution' checkbox to run in 320x240 instead. See if that makes a difference. You might also try clicking the 'Use 85Hz (CRT monitors only)' to see if it makes any difference.

You can also click the "Filters" drop down menu while 320x200 resolution is selected and try the '2x nearest-neighbour' filter. Sometimes that works just as well as 320x200 mode.

Let use know if either of those solutions is an improvement.

Thanks! I just had to run it in a window rather than trying to force it to go into full screen! Simple fix - should have thought of that first, but thanks for the quick reply - i know its early there (after a late night)!

I think I can help. Each video mode is independent of the others, and the first time your monitor renders the 300x200 mode (full screen), it might do it wrong, and in that case you will have to correct it using the controls in your monitor. Try tweaking the values of width, size, and such. Don't worry, after closing the game, your desktop won't be skewed!

Hope that solves your problem.

Edit: Also, this explains why you don't have problems running it in a window.

My widescreen laptop is unable to render in 320x200 full screen, but does fine in 640x480.

Lenovo T61 with NVIDIA 140M adaptor.

Yah me too. Same skewed smeared display tannish-colored, no audio, black 2/3rds of the screen on the right side.

ALT-TABBED and terminated.

Reset to 640x480. F*in SWEET. No lag either.

I have a laptop with ATI: ATI MOBILITY RAEDEON 9600 /w 64mb

AGDI's and friends: You guys totally rock!

none of the filters worked, and niether did 85hrz. but forcing letterbox resolution did work and now the game plays with a widescreen look instead of completely fullscreen.

edit: actually the 2x filter did work! cool! thanks!

I couldn't get the game to run on my laptop in full screen in either resolution. Kept getting a flash of an error message that went by too fast to read before the game minimized. So I just set my screen resolution to the lowest setting I have (800x600) and played in a window instead of full screen in 640x480 and it works fine and almost fills the screen.

Then again I'm not sure if its the game or my laptop since playing QFGI yesterday I totally messed up something in my screen settings and since I'm not computer smart enough to figure out what happened I have to wait for my little brother to come visit. He loves knowing more than his big sis :)
