The Tree and The griffen

I cant seem to find the oasis. Any help? Also, is there anything else of interest in the desert?

Barring anything new that might be in the desert, there is one other encounter from the original game you haven't mentioned.

Not sure if you were asking for a spoiler or not though.

Oasis is three screens to the right, five screens down from the overlook of the city. The guard outside the gate gives you directions.

easiest way to find the oasis, go down from the city until you see a skull shaped rock, then turn left (east)

I always just go 3 skareens right and five skareens down. I found what I'm assuming to be Julanar but I have no idea where I am or how to engage her.

Julanar is the tree due east of Shapeir.

Julanar also happens to be a she. Ask Aziza about the tree to learn what happened to her.

There are arguably five points of interest in the desert (that I know of), not counting Shapeir itself. One requires extreme patience to reach, and isn't particularly useful. One lies due west of town, along the cliffs. One location is given to you by Aziza. One location is given to you by the guard at the city gate, if you only ask. And one location is given to you at the location that the gate guard tells you about, reasonably late in the game.
