It was announced on the Indie Games blog, and on the Coles' site, Transolar.

I'm curious. Right now how many downloads have been registered on the game from the site?

Me too... I'm providing one of the mirrors, and have had over 500 downloads from my server alone. When they said it had been downloaded 5000 times, my server had only provided 200 downloads, so that's 1/25th. So I'm guessing (hoping) somewhere around 10,000-12,500 downloads total?

Can't wait to see the official figure though :D

I'm working on an article about fan-made games for a Norwegian web-site, and I will include the QFG2 remake of course, as well as AGDIs other remakes (KQ 1 & 2).

There's so much going on these days, with Zak McKracken 2.5 and Space Quest 4.5 released not long ago, and Broken sword 2.5 very close to completion. And the release of QFG2 remake after 8 years of development, makes me much more optimistic about a release of The Silver Lining (Inspired by the KQ series) in the near future. AGDI has shown us that it is possible to finish a giant volunteer non-profit project that requiers several years of teamwork, and it is possible to get an approval from Vivendi for release.

Anyway, I will include a link here as soon as the article is published.

It has been downloaded approximately 16,850 times as of the typing of this message. We have 45 mirrors running, so that's approximately 374 downloads per mirror. The script tries to even the bandwidth out, though some servers were added later in the list than others, so certain servers will have distributed more bandwidth than others.

Too bad that slashdot article is not actually about the Quest for Glory II remake, and the only mentions of the remake are by the posters below the article. To really be slashdotted they must feature the news on their main page.
well I know I downloaded it 3 times
The tracker makes use of cookies to help make the counter more accurate. If people download multiple times on the same system, it will only be counted once. Though, it doesn't factor in all the downloads that were timed out, canceled, or redownloaded after the cache was cleared, so this number is only approximate, and is probably a little less than the number displayed.

Awesome :D

Sent you a private message about checking that mirrors are working, in case you want to use it.

Still, for a game that hasn't even been out a week thats impressive time. I know it probably won't keep up at that rate forever, but its still an auspicious start, methinks.

Dugg. Finally signed up there just to do so.

Too bad the link to here doesn't show up in the first paragraph of the article which is the only part showing on Digg. :(
