Stuck at waterfall

I'm stuck at the waterfall just inside Iblis's tomb. I've tried many times to cross the river and I keep getting swept over the falls. There appears to be no way to simply jump, and trying to grab logs gives a message to "jump from the mossy bank near the falls". Is there something I need that I missed in Shapeir to cross this?

BTW, loved the sequence in the "Blue Parrot" with the Dashiel Hammett/"Maltese Falcon" references.

Basically stand on the mossy bank close to the river. I think your case is one of "right idea, poor execution".

Thanks-finally got past it after many attempts. I tried slowing the game speed down, and that helped a lot.

actually, I am not making it either...many attempts later... I am basically just walking out onto the log -- is there something i need to do differently? Should I be close to the waterfall?

Yeah, the hand "Use" icon doesn't always denote taking an action with your hands...

Standing on the edge of the waterfall, and trying to 'hand' the log, no matter what, keep getting:

"You think that the log is too far away, and you wait for another one."

Any ideas?

Wait until it's closer...right after it dropped from the waterfall.
