No. Fighters with stealth can still avoid combat by sneaking, but only thieves turn their stealthy ways into way to do damage.

well for one its less of a sneak attack as it is an immediate upper hand. Also it's only possible in the desert by traveling East to west or West to east. Also have some extra daggers handy.

It's not an option. It's a damage bonus you get if you manage to toss a dagger (or a rock) into an enemy's back. Your stealth stat must be decent for it to succeed.

Also note, you only get one shot at each mob. Make the first one count, and it WILL put the enemy into a world of pain.

a dagger toss, eh? thx guys

at first i thought it would be:
1. hide. wait for enemy to come by and BOOM! Ambush + 12d8 backstab damage
2. dodge then hit special button to acrobatic jump into enemy back and stab 'em
O.o

Notice that sneak attacks, at least against brigands, decrease your honor! I haven't noticed the effect against scorpions or ghouls, who aren't honorable opponents to begin with, but stabbing people in the back who are not currently a threat sounds dishonorable both to me and evidently to AGDI. I don't know if it destroys any chance at Paladinhood. But watch out for that!

It doesn't lose you paladin points or disqualify you, but it does hurt honor to backstab humanoids. Of course, the only person who can backstab is a thief, who's already very restricted if you insist on making him a paladin.
