Escaping prison cell (fighter)

I'm sure I probably just missed something obvious but I broke down the cell door and can't get out without the guards capturing me. I have tried to convince the katta that I am Shema's friend but he wants me to show him a token and I have tried showing him everything in my inventory with no luck. Did I drop somthing that I need for this point?

The item you should have shown would have been with you in the cell. If you didn't have an inventory at that time, you apparently forgot to pick it up while you were in Shapeir. If you have enough communication, you should be able to convince him just by telling him about Shema. You don't seem to have enough, though.

You can also escape the prison yourself by looking for the secret panel yourself. You are still able to win the game that way, even if you never speak to Sharaf.
