3rd thief mission, trap?

Been struggling with the 3rd thief mission, haven't been able to find a way to exit with the coins. I don't need any hints, just would like to know if there is a way out or if it is one of those impossible dead-end scenarios, my stealth is at 100 maybe that is what is causing the problem?

Oh yes there is a way out, it is not a dead end. It has nothing to do with stealth and
infact if you sneak around while you are there, it will actually raise quite rapidly.

Click the money bag and put it bag to the drawer then hide next to the curtain again.

You can't exit because the guard told his buddies he'd be right back and they're still waiting, meaning if you exit the house, you'll walk right into their arms and you'll get beaten up. Rahat (the guard) is looking for the very bag you just swiped, so make sure he finds it before he comes to the conclusion something fishy is going on.

(and no, you can't put it back before you know the guard is looking for it)
