A little help please

Firstly I want to say how impressed I am with the game (even though I haven't gotten very far yet). I am, however stuck. I know I must be overlooking something somewhere, but to purchase the goods at the general store in the town...my instincts and common sense tell me I need a bag of coins, like in IA's adaption of the game, but I can't figure out how to get in the bandits' hideout. If someone could give me a nudge (a hint, please, I'm the type of game player who enjoys figuring out puzzles for herself, instead of someone just saying 'go here...') in the right direction, I would mostly appreciate it.

Getting into the hide out is much the same as with IA's game. There are a few things you have to do before you can make the required spell. Have you managed to get into the lab?

yes, I have and I do like this version's lab much better than IA's

I went into the tavern, and the only one in there is the barmaid. I spoke with her fully and played the lute, twice actually but she always declines letting Gwydion to take it

About the lute, you're not musical enough. But you can change that.

My next problem is the cactus...I can't for the life of me get this item. I've clicked the carving knife on every cactus in the desert to no avail. Am I doing something wrong or something?

There is only one cactus that you can cut with the knife.

You just haven't found the right cactus. You have the right idea. I had this problem, as well. I just kept trying EVERY cactus I could find. I eventually found it.

I'm on the ship and I've completed the stuff on the island and once back onboard, the first mate has given me two chores, but won't give any more and I can't do anything else. There aren't any mice in the hold...am I missing something to get my stuff back?

I went into the sleeping area and left again and got to dust the captains quarters and now I have my stuff but I'm stuck. Still no mice in the hold but if I go up-deck I get tossed to the shark. Am I overlooking something?

You have to get off the ship, but you have to deal with the crew first. Something you're carrying should help.

Am I bypassing something obvious here? I've used the eye on everything in Alexander's inventory and clicked all on him to no success. The only thing that would do anything was the storm brew, which caused the ship to sink and Alex to die

There's another item you carry that can only be used in a place where there's both darkness and moisture.

you have what is necessary. Remember that it requires a dark, moist place. Know anywhere like that?

Instinct tells me the right-hand side of the hold, and I've clicked all of the stuff in the inventory on Alex and the only stuff that do anything at all is the storm brew and stone, and he dies with both (if the stone sends him updeck)

Maybe you shouldn't be clicking the stuff on Alex, but on the surroundings.

I had tried all the stuff in the surroundings too, I just hadn't used that spot, I tried the side wall before but now I got it and I'm off the ship. Thankfully this game doesn't make you race to get past that infernal shark (which I hated about IA's version...this is one more reason why I love this version over IA's)

On land, I got inland past a path...and could it be...Cedric in the scenery?!?! but I'm come to a stop I see a cave that if I enter I see what appears to be two paths, but I can't walk them, and the bones of an animal (looks to be a cow) if I enter or even bypass this cave I see the Yeti. I can't turn to an Eagle, the Rose Petal Essence is gone from my inventory and if I try to click anything on him, I die. What can I be doing wrong?

There are a couple solutions here.

Hint: the cave is cold and dark.

Alternate hint: Notice the Yeti's reaction is slighty different each time you rub the stone?

Great news! I just finished the game Though I do know one thing I did miss, I'm not sure what all I had missed. I finished with a 206 (in 1 Hour 46 Minutes & 12 seconds)

I do know I missed Manannan's letter, but I'm not sure what other stuff I missed.

I did love the game, once I passed the puzzles that puzzled me
