Awards? *possible spoilers*

#1 Post by MisterKerr » Fri Feb 25, 2011 8:20 am

Just completed the game and I thought it was great! 207 out of 210 points (I didn't figure out the Medusa, er, Smaude thing and used the mirror).

My question is: what are all the awards for after the end? Is there a list anywhere, or descriptions of what they are or how to achieve them? It was a cool, modern-day-gaming concept; I just wish I knew what I got them for.

These are the awards I got:
  • Consolation Award
    Perfectionist Award
    Dag-nab-it Award
    Blue Hedgehog Award
    'Enry the 'ermit Award
    Underachiever Award
    Sloth Award
    Lightweight Award
    Problem Child Award
    Rise and Shine Award
    Molasses Award
    Scatterbrain Award
    Grudge Award
    Gluttony Award
    Insomniac Award *
    Wallflower Award
    Pacifist Award
    Neat Freak Award
    Shortcut Award
    Marathon Award
    Stockholm Award
    Klutz Award *
    Roger Wilco Award
    Infamous Award
    Mr. Bigglesworth Award
    Legenimor Award
    Dolittle Award
    Goldilocks Award
Some of these I can guess at, but others I have no idea (also have no idea why some are red with asterisks). What's the mystery?

I think the asterisks with red means those are the ones you got. Incidentally, I got the exact same two.

Awards that you unlock stay unlocked permanently. Getting all hidden awards unlocks the game's debug mode, which allows stuff like killing the wizard instantly, or tracking his location or how long before he returns, getting items, and warping to other rooms. It's mostly something some people like to play around with.

Each award's name contains a hint on how to obtain it.

I only got the perfectionists award. However since they stay unlocked i'm gonna replay through and try and unlock the others. Have some ideas about how to get some of them.

Ah, that makes more sense; it's a list of all the awards and I just got two. Still don't know how I got the insomniac award (I didn't sleep, I guess?) but I'm pretty sure the klutz award involves a certain non-lethal fall that was present in the original game as well. I'm guessing that some of the others involve not changing the speed setting, maybe? Or getting all the points? Talking to all the animals?

I'll keep trying.

This is genius. People are going to keep replaying this game over and over to get everything.

Yep, you got those two. And the game speed slider doesn't factor into any of those awards.

Does the game give a list of criteria for what one must do in order to get each award?

No, the only hints are in the names. The awards are kinda like meta-puzzles...including clues in the game would not make sense.

I finished the game with 204 points and a time of 01:55:49 and got Marathon Award and Mr. Bigglesworth Award.

*Edit*
Just ran thru it again . Got 210 points and a time of 1:17:47 and got the perfectionist award, insomniac award. The marathon award was now green ( guess that means i got that one again), and the other 2 awards were still red.

I received:

Problem Child
Molassas
Klutz
Legenimor

I'm fairly certain Klutz is from falling off the steps in the lab, and Legenimor is finding THE ITEM.

Really no idea about the other two.

I have unlocked the debug mode and would be happy to post instructions regarding this. If it would be all right, of course.

I fell off the steps alot and i didn't get Klutz, but theres other places i know to fall so i'm gonna try that my next run thru, just everytime i pass by i'm gonna fall. I also got "The Item" and i didn't get Legenimor. Problem Child could have been from not doing your chores, i haven't tried messing with that. and Molassas could be a time frame reference, you didnt cite what the game clock was so i don't have a comparison for that either.

The only award I got upon completion was the Molasses one and I finished with 2 hours 4 minutes on the clock.

The klutz might also be running into the anchor outside the general store, so that Alexander yells, "Ouch!" I did that once too.

Cool, I will keep that in mind when i run thru it again. I tried to figure out the goldilocks one as well last time, and i sat in her seat, and slept in her bed, but i forgot to eat her pourage. and maybe have to do it in the order of her story. like the whole try dads pourage, try mom's pourage, try kids pourage, try dad's chair, try mom's chair, try kids chair, try dad's bed, try mom's bed, sleep in kids bed.

I finished in 3h 25m and 34s with 306 pts.
I got the following awards: Molasses; Insomniac; Stockholm amd Klutz.
I used the mirror on Medusa.

EDIT: LOL... Sorry... It should have been 206pts

I got the Mr. Bigglesworth Award. As an Austin Powers reference I think I might have gotten it from talking to the cat a lot.

Wow, that's quick. You didn't hex-edit anything, did you? You have to play through the whole thing like 4 to 6 times at minimum that get all those and you have to know what you're doing. Er...preferably not yet. The game's been out for two days. Let people speculate for some time.

It's not the talking that made Mr. Bigglesworth unique. :)

Awards I got:

Dag-Nab-It,
Problem Child,
Molasses,
Scatterbrain,
Insomniac,
Stockholm,
Klutz

My guesses regarding some of the awards:

Perfectionist: get a perfect score
Underachiever: probably finish with the lowest possible score
Sloth: maybe not doing any of the house chores
Neat Freak: probably doing ALL house chores
Problem child: Probably getting punished by the wizard X number of times (I got 3 punishments I think, so I guess that's the number)
Shortcut: maybe using a certain amount of map/stone to get from place to place
Marathon: maybe walking a certain distance on foot, or never using map/stone
Lightweight: maybe flying for a certin amount of time as an eagle/fly
Stockholm: probably refers to the Stockholm syndrome where one identifies with his or her captor. I may have gotten it since I had all four possible conversations with Manannan.
Klutz: Maybe both hitting the anchor and falling from the cliff/stairs without dying.
Mr. Bigglesworth: Probably taking a certain amount of fur from the cat (Mr. Bigglesworth is bald)
Gluttony: Maybe eating all the wizard's food
Insomniac: Not going to sleep
Rise and Shine: maybe sleeping for a certain time?
Doolittle: Probably hearing all possible animal conversations.
Goldilocks: Probably doing the entire Goldilocks sequence in the Behrs' home (porridge, chairs, beds). I just skipped the beds in my specific game.
Infamous: Maybe has something to do with the IA remake? I didn't play it so I can't tell.
Blue Hedgehog: Does this refer to the Sonic video game character? Since he's very fast, maybe that refers to finishing the game under a certain amount of time.
'Enry the 'ermit: Maybe not talking to anyone in the game (Except for obligatory conversations). Wallflower (which means shy) may stand for this as well, so I can't say.
Pacifist: maybe choosing the more peaceful approach to both medusa and the Yeti? just a guess...
Consolation: maybe finishing game without the orb? is that possible?

I have no idea how I got the molasses, scatterbrain and Dag-nab-it awards. Also, I wonder what the Roger Wilco award might stand for.

You have a lot accurate assumptions, not all of them, but many.

'Enry the 'Ermit and Dag-nab-it are references to Quest for Glory 1 btw.

I remember 'Enry of course. But I can't think of the connection, except him being a hermit...

Dag-Nab-It was the dagger game, right? So maybe throwing the knife at the spiderweb and then retrieving it from the cave got me this award?

Tossing it was enough actually.

As for 'Enry, think back to the most defining attribute of his personality. (btw, this one takes quite a bit of work to get)

Just curious @Erpy, is it possible to finish the game with all achievement in one run?
