EAGLE!

#1 Post by Lugh » Fri Feb 25, 2011 8:49 pm

So, I screwed up and gave Mannanan (cool how this game draws from Celtic myth, which you can tell I like) the mutton. What can I give the eagle now? A chicken? And you might as well tell me where the mud is, since that's the only ingredient that I don't have. A riverbank, I assume?

I figured out what the eagle wants.

I can't figure this out (the eagle thing). I haven't been able to find an eagle feather anywhere.

Have you seen an eagle anywhere?

How might you convince an eagle to come to you? :)

Yeah, I gave away the mutton too, and I can't figure out what to get to give to him.

I figured either possibly fish, or a worm. However, I haven't been able to find either of those yet.

Yes, eagles like fish, as well. :)

Fortunately, this doesn't create a dead-end. When I first played KQ5, I fed the pie to the eagle. Oops. That made it impossible for me to continue a few scenes later.

Even easier than getting the red herring in The Secret of Monkey Island! :)

I think the problem with the eagle is that it doesn't look like a regular eagle. For those of us in the US, a bald headed eagle is normally what we think of. In the game it looks like a falcon or crow/raven. Which is why I didn't realize it.

Originally it was a bald eagle. What was the reason we changed it again?

Look up a Golden Eagle. That's what they look like. I believe they are actually more common as well.

Who said Llewdor is in the US?

It looked like an eagle to me.

And I think Llewdor should be in Wales.

The eagle was pretty recognizable as an eagle, I thought - it had the right head-shape and beak. And I'm from the US, so...

I suppose the easiest thing would be to add an EYE message or something that tells the player it's an eagle? I dunno, it seemed obvious if only by process of elimination. Where else is there a bird of prey in this game?

Looking at the eagle already tells you it's an eagle. But not everybody uses that cursor on everything.
