Fish?

This may be an odd question, but....

I finished the game without finding the dead fish. Since I'd like to get a perfect score, where/when can I find it?

Not in the wizard's mansion or in his laboratory. Not in the middle of the forest or in the desert. Not on the muddy bank of a river or in the Behr house. (they prefer porridge over fish)

Not many places remain. It's in a fairly logical location.

I had no trouble finding it, and I finished the game, but I never actually did anything with it. I have no clue where to use it. Any subtle hints?

Finding it isn't necessary to finish the game; its only real use is as an alternate puzzle solution, since without it you could run into a dead end.
