Try searching all the screens.... it's in the northern part of Llewdor. Look for a hiding place that's natural in nature.

I'll have to admit, that other Gwydion certainly was between a rock and a hard place.

Again, the Gwydion who wrote the journal was certainly between a rock and a hard place.

Did you ask the bard about the pitcher? Did you look at the pitcher?

The bard isn't from this land, and he didn't come here by sea. When you talk to him he says the only thing he brought with him was the pitcher... but the pitcher is empty. How could an empty pitcher have been useful? Maybe it has something to do with what you see when you look at it more closely.

OK, I am still lost, you wanna issue a spoiler alert and give it to me straight? I've examined the pitcher, I saw the words, but I still have no idea what I'm doing

You have the pitcher, so you have what you need.

There is a room in the area one screen east of the desert with a rock... that has a hole in it.

In this rock is something that one would think a person might throw out to sea if they were stuck on a deserted island. Thrown out to sea.... hmm... why wouldn't an item thrown in the sea just sink and be lost?

Additionally, the bard came through the desert to get here. He only had an empty pitcher. To trek through the desert, the first thing one would need is...
