Sleep Spell in Lab?

#1 Post by chucklas » Tue Mar 15, 2011 4:29 pm

When I first played the original game, I always thought I should be able to make Manannan fall asleep using the sleep spell when he was napping. It would make sense that the basement is a dark, damp place where the spell should work. Was this ever a consideration when making the game? I know thats not how the story should play out (given the story of future games) but then again, you can finish KQVI without solving all of the islands' problems too.

The laboratory may be dark, but that doesn't mean it's especially dank.

dank - "unpleasantly moist or humid; damp and, often, chilly: a dank cellar"

I guess this is what I am getting at. Have you ever been in a basement/cellar of a home in a coastal town? If it isn't dank, I don't know what is. Especially if you look at the walls in the original (they are made of mud or so it appears).

I know it wasn't possible in the original, I was just wondering if you guys considered this as a possible alternate solution.

True, but the mansion is on top of a mountain, quite a ways up high. That would likely mean thinner air and thus less moisture in the basement when compared to one at sea level. ;)

Sleep spell in cave

I think Smaude's cave is a place the sleep spell should have worked. It's very dark (you can't see the statues until revealed) and you can see and hear droplets falling from the ceiling.

How do you get into the lab I've found the book that has 5 levels on them and pull them all but the floor or door still wouldn't open what am I missing? Or doing wrong?

The combination can be found in another book. This book can be found somewhere in the game, but not in the study.

The porridge respawns whenever you feed it to him, so no worries there. The book that contains the combination is in a blocked-off building in town.
