Erpy:
I won't just beg you for forgiveness. I'll call you a god and make you a mod

Haa, a bright future awaits for me. This is a chance one mustn't lose.

Let's see. Let's say that I will reach the people I want during the summer vacation (after my last finals). Then, it will take me few days to write my long and detailed email (2-3 pages long? It must be a good one). Then one of the following could happen:

A) Either they say 'Yes'/'No' after a short exchange of emails

or

B) As you suggested, lawyers are to get involved. If so, I shall contact my father in the USA to tell him to use his lawyers. I shall send them emails containing all the information they need.

I like my chances :smokin I'm optimistic.

If they say no, though, then it will be very sad. But, I'm not thinking about it. I'm thinking about what I can do, not about how I can lose this.

Continuation of my last post above (see it, it's the one above):

Points to mention in *D* email to Disney:

1) Tierra - what is it? Goals, attentions, history, etc...
2) AGS - what is it?
3) Fan projects - explanations, overview.
4) What can Disney gain if they give a permission.
5) What they WON'T lose.
6) Making a reliable image of Tierra and their fans.
7) Who am I? - this is a good point.
Eight) To clarify : Money isn't involved.]
9) Adding links to some sites, so they could see for themselves what ever they like, and gain more knowledge (plus, it helps building a reliable image). Sites to be linked: Tierra, AGS, Sierra and more.
10) Stating that Disney's need to be overprotective is understandable and known to us, and so we would like to have their cooperation.

Just make certain to state that you aren't a representative of Tierra.

That would give a bad impression. Tsk, you are trying to ruin my email.

I shall address myself as: A close crony to the management.
They won't take my email seriously, if I represent myself as a fan.

Well, if you present yourself as someone officially affiliated with the team, you give people the impression that your words automatically represent our stance. I can't stop you from pursueing your plans, but from the "better be safe than sorry" point of view, I'd prefer if you wouldn't involve us into it like that.

OK, I shall address myself differently. "FROM SOMEONE WHO CARES" Is that better? ... I shall find something like that, which has the same idea, but sounds better, oki?

It doesn't really matter now. Months will pass before my email is sent. I shall discuss with you about this particular issue when the time comes to send *D* email. I won't do something without your agreement.

I don't think my agreement or opinion really matters in this case, since you already know my stance on the issue. I personally think it's not worth the trouble, seeing that:

1) Disney modelled Uncle Scrooge after their own policies regarding issues like these.

2) TBC-VGA isn't even considered a future project at this moment and may very well never come to pass.

However, as long as we don't get directly involved, I can't stop you from giving your plans a shot. (might as well make 'em used to getting shot. :p )

You might want to discuss it with someone else with some more knowledge on the subject. (your dad in the US, for example) A neutral opinion might act as a way to "gauge the depth of the pool", before jumping in. (and risk drowning)

A) Uncle Scrooge - what's that?

B) Of course it isn't an option now, since you aren't allowed to make it. Once I make it allowed, it will be an option, an option that you can't miss.

C) Your answer to this post of mine is to be the last post about this subject, until I say otherwise (....oki?). You can really take the fun of something. But I won't let you. :evil

I think he means Scrooge in a Christmas Carol but I'm not sure if that was from Disney but they did make a Disney version out of it. I remember a donald Duck character played Scrooge and Tiny Tim was a small little mouse. Classic films. :D

Oh come on. You must know Uncle Scrooge McDuck! The richest duck in the world. Swims in his money, yet refuses to spend a penny of it. You guys never read Disney comics?

Or ever watched DuckTales? He had a giant vault where he kept all his money (all in gold coins, if memory serves) and he would put on his onepiece swimsuit and dive in.

"May the way of the hero
lead to the Triforce."

Duck tales. AHHHHHHHH! The memories.
Anyway on topic. TBC is ok. But I would rather see KQ3VGA. Maybe do TBC after KQ3. It seems it whould take a while to even get permission to do TBC. So why not do KQ3VGA during that time?

It did...............................................

#592 Post by The Knight » Fri Apr 25, 2003 12:53 am

It did win the poll. Colonel's Bequest is being redone with a speech pack by another group as mentioned a page or two back of this thread. The Black Cauldron has copyright issues. Police quest 2 is already being redone. So it makes sence to redo KQ3. I rest my case.

We can't say for sure whether someone is remaking Colonel's Bequest, and all the games have Copyright issues, so Black Cauldron isn't out. I think if Colonel's Bequest can be made like Laura Bow 2, it would be the prefered one. :p

Ummm...Knight. Please read the previous page of this discussion. That LB-remake was something Vildern made up.

I know that all games are copyrighted, but Sierra seems fairly tolerable towards fangames whether Disney's reputation on that issue is scary at least.

The Black cauldron has bigger copyright issues than the other options. And Tierra did cancel thier Space Quest 2 project because someone else was working on it. So I don't think they will take up Colonel's Bequest since its already been claimed.

I didn't. :) Why wouldn't people fall for it, BTW? It wasn't april the 1st anymore, so people had no reason not to believe you.

Anyway, I'm not so certain whether that was really a wise thing to do. Since you misquoted the names of the "team members", the joke wasn't clear enough. One definitely doesn't improve one's credibility that way. It CAN be taken the wrong way, you know?

"THERE IS NO CHARLIE AND MOE". This is all I can do for now. Can't a guy have fun with himself for once? It's not like I do it ALL the time.
