King's Quest 1 VGA

#1 Post by ltcolonel97305 » Mon Jun 13, 2005 8:35 am

I just updated my computer to a Dell Pentium III, 600. This is the error message I get after I loadd this game.

an exception 0xcc0000005 occured in acwin.exe at eip=0xbfff7b992 (strcpy/strcat) program pointer is x6, aci version 2.566.631, gtagss (23,2)

When I try to start a new game, I get the above message after Graham leaves the castle and the gate closes down behind him, before the moat monster can be seen or heard. I am running Win98SE and Directx 9.0c

If anyone can help that would be great. Also where can I download acsdos.exe?

It sure would be nice if someone could help me with this problem, instead of giving me a stupid answer like the person who responded. I used to have a Pentium 1 computer but then I upgraded to a Pentium III 600 MHZ machine. After I load the game, Graham walkes out of the Castle and then it quits with the error message I put up earlier. I would like to send Chris Jones an email but don't know his email address. Also WHERE DO I GET ACDOS.EXE!!!! HINTS DON'T HELP, I NEED ANSWERS

Acdos.exe is available from the AGS website at www.bigbluecup.com.

I'm afraid I'm not really sure what the error you report means...it's an engine error, rather than a scripting error. Have you tried fiddling around with the resolution/letterbox settings?

I have looked all over the bigbluecup website and still cannot find the download for Acdos.exe, could you type in the exact place where I can download this file? I am getting really frustrated with this whole forum, it seems that no one wants to help they just like to type in answers like riddles.

http://www.bigbluecup.com/acdload.htm

It's in the download section. Simply download AGS and open the zip-file.

ACDOS.EXE is not in the ZIP file and the readme lists it as discontinued.  Is there any place else to download it from?
