i get this message when i start to play kings quest 1 "MMSYSTEM004"

What are your system specs? OS? etc

An MMSYSTEM error usually indicactes that's something wrong with your soundcard. This particular error indicates the soundcard is already in use.

Make sure you do not have any audio playing when you start the game (Winamp, Media Player...) - if you do, close the application(s) using the soundcard. You might also try looking for an updated soundcard driver.
