QFGII stopped working!

#1 Post by johniemi » Mon Sep 01, 2008 2:38 pm

First of all, I tried uninstalling, booting and reinstalling and this is the error I get. Note that I have been playing for 4 days now and suddenly when I got home today I got these errors and the game does not start. I have tried all the different filters and resolution settings also.

First of all, when I try to start it from the setup program "save and run" box:

---------------------------
Illegal exception
---------------------------
An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x004CA47B ; program pointer is -188, ACI version 2.72.920, gtags (0,0)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech forum.

Most versions of Windows allow you to press Ctrl+C now to copy this entire message to the clipboard for easy reporting.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Then when I try to start it directly from the .exe file:

---------------------------
Adventure Game Studio
---------------------------
There was a problem initializing graphics mode 320 x 200 (32-bit).
(Problem: 'Unable to find a suitable graphics driver')
Try to correct the problem, or seek help from the AGS homepage.

Possible causes:
* your graphics card drivers do not support this resolution. Run the game setup program and try the other resolution.
* the graphics filter you have selected does not work. Try another filter.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

And after pressing the above OK button, I also get a second error:

---------------------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
---------------------------
Runtime Error!

Program: ...ram Files\AGD Interactive\Quest for Glory II\Qfg2vga.exe

abnormal program termination

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Strange!

Could you try installing the latest version of your video card's drivers, and also the latest version of DirectX and see if that helps things?

Also, just FYI: if you have savegames saved at a particular and then you change the resolution to something else, they won't load anymore. You need to save and restore all your games in the same resolution, otherwise you'll receive a mismatch error.
