Installation assistance

Hi -
I am new to Mac's and this forum. I have downloaded Kings Quest I, identified the KGI icon in the Applications folder, but I still can't get the SW to run at all. Also I think its in Disk Image?? Anyway, I am trying to install KQ for my Dad as a surprise for Fathers Day. Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong?
